When I heard my phone go off on the nightstand next to me, it felt like only twenty minutes had passed since my girl fell asleep. I knew if I moved too much when I reached for it, I could wake Mia up, and that wasn't something I wanted to do yet. Seconds later, I successfully retrieved the device with careful movements and some finesse, seeing a text from my mom. Even after our nap earlier, she still looks exhausted, and I want her to keep sleeping.
Mom: "Hey, honey. How are you doing today?"
Cambria: "I'm doing so much better. Mia came home last night, and we talked today. Everything worked itself out like you said it would."
Mom: "I'm so happy to hear that. What are your plans for the rest of the evening?"
Cambria: "I'm not sure because Mia fell asleep on me, lol."
Mom: "Some things will never change, huh?"
Cambria: "They better not, lol. I like her being this close to me."
Mom: "Then you know what you have to do, right?"
Cambria: "Yes, feed her so that she can have another food coma."
Mom: "I wouldn't put that past you, honey. Haha."
Cambria: "All joking aside, though... I know that I need to always vocalize my feelings to her so that she is aware. Otherwise, history will repeat itself, and I do not want to go through this again."
Mom: "I'm proud of you, Cambria. Hug Mia for me. I love you."
Cambria: "I will, and I love you too, Mom."
After my last text was delivered, I locked my phone, placed it right back on the nightstand, and continued to hold my girl while she slept. As the minutes continued to pass, I thought about how I could bring up the last bit of things I wanted to talk to Mia about. I am not sure I want to just spring it on her as soon as she wakes up or anything. Maybe I should just wait and see what happens and not dwell on it... Yeah, there's no need for that, not anymore.
I felt Mia stretch her body and yawn before she said, "It's quite disconcerting how Vivian knew exactly where we lived."
"Yeah, that has crossed my mind many times as well because Brittany said she never mentioned anything to her," I stated while Mia lifted herself into a sitting position, and I did the same.
"You asked Brittany? When?" She inquired.
"Well... not exactly... I, um... I snapped at her, and she came over right after you left. I broke down and told her what happened with Vivian. Then, she stayed with me for a while because she didn't want to leave me alone after everything." I disclosed, watching my girl's facial expression change from a neutral one to a sad one.
"Oh, baby... I'm so sorry you went through that, but I'm so grateful Brittany was there to help and keep you company... Even though it should have been me with you... I shouldn't have gone to work that night..." Mia admitted with a frown.
"Why did you still go? If it's okay that I ask."
"It's always okay to ask me anything. Nina gave me my first solo project and client, who is a millionaire, and I had to present my work to him." She clarified.
"Who is this rich guy?" I asked curiously.
"Bartholomew Wakefield, the CEO of Wakefield Investments," Mia answered.
