The next week went by as normal. Occasional training with Red Dead Redemption, cooking with Wanda and watching Tony and Bruce work in the batcave.
I rarely saw Bucky in that time, only at mealtime or in the training room when he was with Steve. For some reason that upset me, because you're losing the plot hun that's why.
I was currently sat in the training area outside the compound with my headphones in and watching the team train. It was often quite interesting to watch everyones skills and observe their strategies. As Number 13 by Nothing But Thieves played I watched clint practice with the new modified bow Tony and Bruce built him. He was using a mix of normal and explosive arrows as we were outside, rolling around like a pig in the mud then firing at different targets I'd helped set up for him.
"Dont pop a hip Legolas" I here Tony call from inside, making me chuckle. For me to hear it must've meant the entire compound did.
Clint sighs, shaking his head. "You ever gonna stop calling me that Tony?" I took one of my headphones out to here their bickering. Clint's never been a huge fan of nicknames, mostly calling people by their real names. Though, I still believe he secretly love hearing everyones being thrown at eachother.
"Now why would I do that? Arent you meant to be a bird anyway, whyre you rolling around like a dog trying to scratch it's back?" He calls back, the smugness evident in his voice.
"Oh shut up, at least I can fire and arrow" Clint retorts, and I instantly know the response hes going to get.
"At least I'm a genius billionaire playboy philanthropist" the walking soup can yells back before walking inside, most likely back to his lair. I snigger at the sentence we've all heard a dozen times and Clint mutters something under his breath before carrying on with his archery-on-steroids.
I stand from my spot on the grass, picking up my phone and sketchbook, "hey Clint, I'm gonna head inside it's too outsidey out here" I call out to him, already halfway back to the building.
"Okay, have fun being antisocial!"
"Oh you know I will honey" I joke back. Just as I walk through the doors to get inside Figure It Out by Royal Blood starts playing in my ears. I gasp, turning the volume all the way up and humming along to the beat.
I throw my sketchbook on a bench in the training room, remembering to pick it up later, and dash into the hallway. At this point I'm singing the lyrics without even knowing and tapping my hands on the walls the the beat. By the time my favourite part of the song comes on I'm full-on throwing my head round and dancing like a crazy person in the middle of the corridor. I race into the kitchen as the beat picks up and leap onto the island to dance on, fully embracing the beat and playing the air drums to it.
Once the song stops I hop down and look around the kitchen, thinking about grabbing a snack. However the thought quickly left my mind as I realised Sam, Steve and Bucky were all in the kitchen surrounding the coffee machine. But all staring at me. Well of course they are, you just gave them a concert for crying out loud! I gulp and feel my face flushing bright red, matching my hair. "Hi" I squeak out, barely able to find my voice while drowning in embarrassment.
Sam starts clapping and cheering and Steve grins at me. "Great show little red! I loved the drum solo, I wish I heard the song so I could take the guitar" Sam joked, helping to diffuse the tension.
Steve nods in agreement, "glad you're in a good mood today Ellie".
"Heh, thanks guys. I didnt mean to interrupt your mothers meeting, just got carried away with the song." My face still on fire, but at least my voice works now.
I look over at Bucky to see a blush tinting his cheeks. He licks his lips and my mind stops working entirely. Dont you dare start with those thoughts bitch. He shakes his head slightly, as if clearing a thought out. "You dance better than Steve used to so I cant complain" he joked, making the blonde turn to him with a shocked expression.
I giggled at the idea of mini-Steve trying to dance, not imagining it to go well. "Now that, I wish I could've seen!"
"I second that! I'd pay good money for a video" Sam adds, clearly serious despite the joking tone.
"You know I'm right here guys?"
"That you are. Anyway, I'll leave you to get back to your mothers meeting. Try not to tease Vanilla Ice over here too hard, kay?" I smile at them and leave the kitchen, heading back to my room to continue my dance party without anyone seeing.
A knock on my door after a couple hours of solid solo-raving is what made me pause. I was yet again a sweaty, heaving mess but I answered my door anyway, immediately regretting that decision the second I opened my door.
"Hi, sorry to interrupt I just wanted to give you this, figured you'd need it". Bucky handed me a very large iced coffee, then shook off the condensation from the metal arm that was holding it, making it whirr.
"Oh wow, thank you so much" I tried it and my eyes lit up "holy shit it's perfect! How did you know I liked it like this?" I was amazed that he got it right, nobody but Nat, Wanda and Steve can.
"I'd noticed you making it a couple of times, I kinda just guessed. I'm glad you like it" he smiled at me, scratching the back of his neck.
"I love it, thank you Bucky" I grinned at the man in front of me.
"Can I ask why you have pink salt in it?" He looked confused despite his smile. Like a puppy who cant find its tail after chasing it for a minute.
"Oh that... heh. It helps with bloating and takes away the bitterness from how strong I like my coffee" I take another gulp, enjoying the cool deliciousness of my drink.
"Yeah, I cant imagine 3 spoons of coffee in it would be great on it's own" he jokes, making me giggle. I see a glint in his eye at the sound, almost as if he likes it. It's your imagination, dont even go there. "Well I gotta get back to the kitchen, but I'm glad you like your coffee" he smiles and turns back down the hallway.
"Hey Buck!" I call out, he turns at looks at me. "Uh... thank you again for the drink, it's perfect" I smile, not doubting theres a blush covering my cheeks again.
He smiles and nods at me, a hint of pink on his cheeks too. And with that, he walks back down the hallway, disappearing around the corner and out of my sight.
