"What are you kids doing?" The police officer with a deep voice asks.
"Just wrestling." Brad excuses, lifting me off the mat.
"That's not a fine way to treat a lady." The officer says as he lowers his hat.
"We were just leaving." I blurt in. Brad and I get our clothes that we're suppose to change into, but clear that didn't happen, and leave the gym.
Brad opens my door to the car and heads to his side. "Where to next?" Brad asks me.
"To the stars." I quote off the movie Titanic.
He lifts an eyebrow with a smirk, most probably remembering the thing Jack and Rose did after that, and we both break the silence with laughter."Home, I guess." I direct.
As Brad drives me home, I begin to wonder if we are dating. I mean, that incident at Target, that little wrestler thing at the gym, those couldn't be "friend movements".
Could they? I guess they could, why not? He did say that we were really close friends, and he bought me those clothes.
"Why are you so quiet?" Brad interrupts my thinking.
"I - I don't know."
"Then why are you blushing?"
"That thing that happened at Target, are we..?" Brad interrupts me. "Are we dating?" He finishes my sentence. "No, you just looked so frightened by those girls. So, I figured that I should be nice enough to protect you. You know, scare off the ladies."
"Well dang, I thought I had a sexy boyfriend." I tease. "You thought wrong." Brad teases back.
I act like I'm mad at him by folding my arms, not looking at him, and loosing my smile, which was really hard because I just wanted to laugh.
"Look at the wimpy baby." He teases again.
I try not to smile, but fail completely."I made you laugh. I knew you couldn't stay mad at me." Brad laughs.
"You're too cute not to laugh at."
"You think I'm cute?" He asks.
I stare at my feet and dodge the question even though I knew that I was blushing. Brad pulls into my driveway and unlocks the doors for me to get out.
"Thanks." I say, opening the door.
"You going to climb up the tree?" Brad asks.
"I guess."
I shut the door and climb up the steady tree branches until I reach my window and jump in my room.

My phone rings and I open my eyes. I stare at the clock that read 5:43.
"Hello," I answer.
"You going to be at school?" Lizzy asks.
"Nah, Why?"
"There's rumors about you being dead."
"Good, let people think that."
"Maddie! Don't talk like that!" Lizzy yells into my ear, which I think made me deaf.
"Okay okay, I got it." I blurt.
"See you whenever. Bye." Lizzy says.
"Bye."
