"I can't believe it's been two months and Esther hasn't even contacted us." Rikki said, "I'm kind of bored."
"We should be glad she's gone for now. We can actually relax." Rebekah said.
"All I've ever done is relax! This is actually fun! It's exciting!" Rikki exclaimed.
"You can still be excited without being hunted by an evil witch." Hayley laughed.
"But it's always more fun when danger's involved." Rikki smiled.
"Famous last words." Rebekah sighed.
"Well I think we should just enjoy this peace while it lasts." Bella said.
"I agree." Hayley nodded.
"Good luck with that because tonights a full moon. So we're going to have to lock ourselves away by 7." Rikki added.
"Well it's only- it's 5:30." Rebekah frowned.
"Guess we better break out the board games." Rikki shrugged.
"Guess so." Hayley sighed.
--
2 hours later, and it was 7:30.
"Where are the guys? They're late. They were supposed to be back an hour ago." Hayley asked.
"Elijah isn't answering, and all I got from Klaus was 'soon' so that didn't help at all seeing as he sent it 30 minutes ago." Rebekah frowned.
Just then, the door opened and the guys were back. As they walked in they left the door open just a little too much and the moon's reflection appeared on every reflective surface in the living room, causing Rebekah and Hayley to find themselves locked under its spell.
They closed the door and Rebekah and Hayley made eye contact, smiles spreading across their cheeks. Bella came into the room from the kitchen, unaffected, and Rikki managed to keep her eyes on the board game, also unaffected.
Hayley grabbed Rebekah's hand and they ran upstairs.
"Where are they going?" Kol asked.
"I'm not sure.." Rikki said, getting up to follow them.
She found them upstairs, giggling away.
"Oh no. You saw the moon didn't you?" Rikki frowned.
"The moon is beautiful. Of course I looked at it! Ohh we should go for a swim! Right Hayley?" Rebekah giggled, smiling like a child.
"Yeahh let's go to Mako!" Hayley giggled.
"No one's going on a swim, and no one's going to Mako! Got it?" Rikki said firmly.
Hayley and Rebekah nodded solemnly, before giggling again.
"Whatever, just stay in here and go to sleep. Don't make a scene." Rikki demanded.
She left the door open so she could hear if anything- well, fishy, was happening. She sighed.
"They're moonstruck." Rikki announced.
"Care to elaborate?" Klaus asked.
"When a mermaid looks at the full moon it does something weird and starts controlling us it something, we don't quite know so we call it being moonstruck." Rikki explained.
"And Rebekah and Hayley.. are... moonstruck?" Elijah asked.
"Yeah." Rikki nodded.
Just then, a loud thud was heard outside. Klaus, Kol, and Elijah ran out just in time to see Hayley and Rebekah speed away.
"They're gone!" Kol called.
"They're going to-" Rikki started, stopping mid sentence as she froze in the moons grasp.
Bella came outside without thinking and ended up caught in the same trance.
Kol waved his hand in front of Rikkis face, she didn't even flinch.
He wound up to smack her but was caught off guard when her hand shot up to block it. Her stare broke and she quietly walked towards the pier, Bella close behind.
"Um, mind explaining what you're doing?" Klaus asked.
Rikki turned around for a moment as Bella dove off the pier, "Mm, no. Not really."
She winked and dove off after Bella.
"They must have gone to Mako, should we follow?" Elijah asked.
"No, they'll be okay. Let's just wait until morning and if they aren't back by then we'll go to Mako." Klaus said.
"Are you sure?" Kol asked.
"Yes Kol." Klaus said, turning away from the pier and making his way back to the beach house. Marcel followed. Kol and Elijah glanced at the water and then at each other, then following Klaus.
—
Rebekah opened her eyes slowly, and rubbed her head. She looked around and realized she wasn't in the beach house. She jumped up and looked around quickly, calming down when she recognized the cave.
She saw Hayley, Bella, and Rikki sprawled on the floor.
"Oh... last night was a full moon." Rebekah realized.
Hayley sat up quickly, "What the..?"
"5 more minutes." Rikki mumbled.
Bella sat up quietly.
"Last night was a full moon!" Rikki realized, jumping up.
"I don't remember anything after the guys got back." Hayley said.
"I don't remember anything after you guys ran off to.. well here." Bella sighed.
"We better get back, the moon must've just set. Come on." Rebekah said, diving into the moon pool.
The girls followed her.
They reached the pier behind the beach house, pulling themselves on shore and drying off.
They walked inside where Klaus, Elijah, Kol, and Marcel were waiting.
"There you are. I was worried I'd have to actually get up and help find you." Kol smirked.
"Thank you for your concern Kol." Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"Always." Kol smiled, giving Rikki a wink.
She simply raised an eyebrow at the gesture.
Bella looked between the two and followed Rebekah into the kitchen.
"Did you see that?" Bella asked.
"See what?" Rebekah asked, looking in the fridge.
"Kol and Rikki?" Bella said quietly.
"Bella most of the people in this house have enhanced hearing. I'm sure they heard that." Rebekah teased.
"Oh. Well, still." Bella said.
"I didn't see anything but if I do... I don't know. I'll spill the tea." Rebekah smirked.
