"WAIT- NO-PLEASE," she pleaded before I sunk my fangs into her neck.

When I drunk the last bit of her blood, I dropped her lifeless body on the floor. I backed up and sat in her little office chair and wiped her blood off my face.

Staring up at the ceiling flashes of Vadah ran through my mind. I tried to make them go away, but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon.

The stench of the young lady's body beside me on the floor was making my stomach turn, but I didn't have the energy to get up.

"Brah what the fuck?" Kev said walking in the room. "This what we do now? Leave bitches lying on the flo'?"

"You pick her up then," I said moving my eyes from the ceiling to him.

"I know you Mr. Big and bad but you can't be just leaving bodies everywhere," he said going over to her.

"I wasn't gonna leave her there," I said as I watched him. "I don't need anyone to clean up my messes."

He cracked a smile. "I know, but you need someone looking after you."

I looked away.

"I'm fine."

He started to get serious. "Everyone's fine till they not. And you'll need someone to be there when you're not."

"I'll be fine." I sighed.

"Uhm. How my nephews doing?" He asked as he started to drag her body to the door.

"They good. Troy working on controlling his magic, and Rod hanging with me most of the time," I said getting up and helping him.

"That's good."

We took her down to her backyard where a fire was going and threw her body in the fire. We let the sound and smell of the young lady's body being cooked consume us. None of us really knowing what to say as the November cold froze our nose off.

I ended up breaking the silence. "You think they gon remember they mom?" I asked watching the body surrounded by flames.

He took a deep breath. "We gon make sure they don't forget."

The sound of my ringtone took my attention from the conversation. Sis👿 had flashed across the screen.

"Yeah, what happened? Everything good?" I said once I answered the phone.

"Everything's fine Chris," she answered as I turned away from the fire in front of me. "My nephews are just wondering where their father is and why he hasn't called them today."

I put my free hand in my pocket of my coat and let out a deep breath and it formed the stream as if I had been smoking.

"I've been meaning too. I just had lost track of time," I said now looking down at the ground.

"Well here they go right now," she said and then she put them on the phone.

"Daddy!" They both yelled into the phone.

"Wassup! What y'all doing?" I yelled right back.

"We was watching a movie," Troy said.

"What movie was y'all watching?" I smiled.

"We was watching the Spongebob movie," Troy answered. "The one where they not in water."

"Oh yeah, I heard it was a good movie."

"Daddy when you gon come and get us?" Rod asked.

"Umm.. Tonight. I'll come get y'all tonight," I said.
