Everyone paced down and forth in the lounge, awaiting the news of the royal physician. Benjamin rushed toward him as soon as Dr. Moretti emerged.
"How is she?" Benjamin asked.
"Stable, however she needs some time to rest. I would suggest to only let one person at a time to see her." Dr. Moretti explained.
"What about the baby?" Benjamin asked.
"I'm sorry, I could not save the baby." Dr. Moretti answered sadly.
"I'll accompany you on your way out," Hayden spoke as he guided the doctor out of the estate. Flora sunk into her chair, her eyes swelling with tears. Benjamin tried his best to stay composed.
"I think she'll need you," Benjamin spoke up and everyone stared at him confused as to who he was referring to. Benjamin finally glanced at William and gave him a slight smile.
"But you — I-I —" William paused as he realized what Benjamin was trying to tell him. William's watery gaze fell to the floor as he breathing became unsteady.
Ella turned to her husband. "She needs you," she whispered.
William swallowed the lump in his throat and slowly made his way up the stairs. He tried his best to hold in the tears as his shaking hand reached for the handle to Indiana's bedroom. William slowly twisted the handle and opened the door.
"Hey," he gently greeted.
Indiana remained in a trance, staring at the closed window, a tear slowly running down her cheek. William slowly approached her, yet the blonde did not respond.
"Indiana," William called out, but to no vain. William sighed and gently sat down next to his ex lover, wrapping his arms around her. "It going to be okay."
William's touch seemed to pull Indiana out of her static state as the blonde slowly turned face him. "I-I'm sorry," she whimpered.
William held Indiana close, caressing her cheek gently. "There is nothing to apologize for," William said, his voice cracking as he clenched his jaw to hold back his tears.
"I didn't tell you, I should have. I—"
"Shhh, just let it all out." William spoke softly.
Indiana gripped onto his shirt, the tears pouring down uncontrollably as she relived the pain. She had grown to love the gift William had left her and her heart ached at the fact that it was gone, that their baby was gone. All she could do was to clutch onto William and let go of all the heartache. William cried silently next to her and the two stayed like that for what seemed like hours.
"I am sorry I did not tell you," Indiana spoke as the tears subsided.
"I don't blame you, it was my fault." William gently stroked her blonde locks.
"I was going to but then I overheard you talking with Flora about your promise to Ella. I knew I couldn't tell you then, I did not want you to break that promise." Indiana explained.
"Benjamin knew, I am guessing?" William asked and Indiana nodded.
Indiana looked up at the ceiling. "He accepted me, with baby and all. He always tried convincing me to tell you, but I couldn't do that to you, to Ella."
"I am sorry for what I put you through," William spoke up. "You had a such kind heart and I did not appreciate it. I blamed Benjamin but I was the one who pushed you away."
