Kazuha realizes his feelings too late

Kazuha watches in horror as a figure emerge from the sky, they fall motionless in the air as they seem unconscious. With the help of the rest of the resistance and the traveler, they were prepared to catch the person.

"It's a woman?" They say around the unconscious gray-haired woman they managed to catch in time.

Her eyes open in a blink and looks around rapidly before noticing everyone staring at her.

"You....can see me?" She says dumbfound.

"Miss, are you alright?"

Her eyes widen at this and she looks down, patting her body in confusion before pushing everyone off her.

"I....I have my own body? How is this possible unless-" she pauses as she begins to remember what happened in the sky.

A hand pushes her off the platform and she watches as [Y/n] smiles at her, blood staining the corner of her mouth.

"Out of the two of us, you will be the one to live." She calls out for the female but she falls and the last words she hears is...

"Good bye, Sentience."

"That idiot!?" She mutters angrily before noticing Kazuha looking up at the sky.

"Hey you!?" She calls out towards him, still not used to having a body to move in on her own. He looks at her and she grabs his collar. "You need to help her! She needs you right now!"

Kazuha blinks at this, "I'm sorry? Who is this 'she' you mention?"

Her eyes widen before sighing, "[Y/n]! Her name is [Y/n] and she's in danger now!"

Kazuha's eyes widen at this.

"Isn't she at the other front line-"

Sentience smacks her lips at this, "no, you idiot!"

"She went to the Shogan, she tricked you into thinking she was going to be here but instead she went to the archon. While we were there, the Shogan brought a machine monster and said if we defeat it, she would accept our challenge but..." Her fingers tremble as she remembers the horrified look on [Y/n]'s face as she looks at the Maguu Kenki. "But this one was different, she hesitated on drawing out her fists."

She explains as a loud boom is heard from above. Letting go of Kazuha, her arms go limp as she realizes she's too late, too late to save her host.

"....I'm too late...." she lets out, her voice filled with shock as it cracks with emotion.

She watches motionless as she spots two figures emerging from the smoke.

"Too late on what?" Kazuha asks, "too late on saving her." She answers.

She could make out [Y/n] holding onto the Maguu Tenki as they fall and into the ocean at a rapid speed.

She rushes to them, ignoring the calls from the others and pulls them out, laying [Y/n] on the shore. Her hand clutched tightly around the mechanic arm of the Maguu Kenki as it's body sprawls on the ground next to her.

"[Y/n]!?" Kazuha yells out desperately as he pushes through the crowd and he freezes as his eyes meet the scene in front of him.

"....Tomo?" You says as you begin to tremble at the sight of him, your eyes dilated as you glanced all over him, his  arm and leg were made from mechanic parts as his eyes held no life in them as he stood there.

The Shogan smirked at this, "What a beautiful reunion, the two lovers meet once again." She chuckles as you shake, you were filled with rage at her words.

You watch as the Shogan snaps her fingers and the Maguu Tenki comes to life. It stares at you, waiting for it's orders.

"Why don't you go take down the girl you loved? She did leave you to die after all." Her voice rings out and before you could blink, you look down to see a sword impaled through your abdomen.

Spitting out blood, you look up to see Tomo in front you, his dull eyes staring back at you as he pushes the sword more in.

Gritting your teeth as you could taste your blood, your eyes flash between red and [E/C] as you could hear Sentience calling your name.

More pain you feel as the blade digs deeper as you eyes now flash red, Sentience had taken control.

She grabbed ahold of the Maguu Tenki and blasted off in the sky, leaving the Shogan to watch from above.

With the little time she had left since [Y/n] was beginning to fight for control back, she created a small platform and went limo before her eyes flashed back to its original color.

"I'm sorry..." You said in a straining voice as you blood began to stain the floor below their feet. "For not being able...to save you." You continue as the tip of the blade was now visible from your back, it had pierce through your body.

Throwing up more blood, you glance behind you and push Sentience off, "we say goodbye for the last time, Sentience."

"Farewell."

You could hear her calling for you but you ignore it, "If it means you can live once more, I'll....trade my life for yours." Slowly reaching out with your remaining strength, you place a bloody hand on Tomo's face and it gives off a soft glow as his eyes begin to light up.

Before he lets go of the blade and falls back. You smile at this before you stumble back and fall, the blade stick out, you tried to take it out but it's no use. The platform slowly begins to dissolve and your body begins to fall with it.

Seeing Tomo's body begin to fall with you, your hands reaches out and grabs ahold of him.

Your eyes begin to dim as you close your eyes, "take care of Kazu-chan....for me, will you?"

Letting out your last words, everything goes dark.

Kazuha holds you close, your body no longer giving off warmth as he sits there, cradling your cold body in her arms as tears rolled down his face.

A single feather that now lost its light flutters in front of him.

Only until your death, had he realized his true feelings for you but only, it was too late. You were gone from this world and him again.

A/N: listening to night glow while writing this wasn't a good idea-
