summary: adam wants his family back

-

i buckled my 4 year old daughter into her car seat. giving her a kiss when i was done, then i made my way to the drivers seat.

i sighed as i looked at the picture that stood in front of the speed limit.

it was picture of me, my baby, and her father. if anybody asked where he was, the answer was always, "he's busy" or "he's working." but really, he left to pursue what his father wanted, and that was to forget about me and my daughter and continue his hockey career.

i wasn't mad at him for being forced to do what his father. i was just mad that he couldn't stand up for me when his dad called me all those harsh names. or even try to defend his daughter's name.

it's been a year, and i hated when my addie asked for her dad. it broke me, having to lie to her.

he could be out already getting married to a new woman, forgetting about me and my baby. i hated thinking about him, because i still love him. i'll never stop, and i never will.

-

"mommy, pwesh me," addie shouted as she ran to the swings.

"i'm coming mamas," i shouted as i ran towards her. when i helped her onto the swing, i lightly pushed her forward.

"mommy faster," she urged me.

"no baby, you always cry when you go higher." i responded, still lightly pushing her.

"i promise mommy." she looked over her shoulder to me, with her puppy dog eyes.

i groaned and sighed. "you're lucky your cute and that i love you." i pushed a bit harder than i did. she screamed in excitement, making me smile.

as i continued to push her, we hear the sounds of thunderstorms.

"looks like it's going to rain." i hear addie sigh. "come on mama, we'll come back when it's not raining or wet, okay?"

she nods her head. i picked her up and started walking to the car.

buckling her up and then getting myself situated, i drove back home.

as we were pulling to the corner of our house, light rain started dropping. addie had fallen asleep halfway on our way home. maybe because i was driving slow because of the wet floor that sprinkled with rain.

pulling up to our house, there was a car parked in front of our house. and the car looked awfully familiar.

pulling up into the driveway. when i got out the car, the door to the car in front of my house opened.

and there appeared the love of my life. his hair slicked into the a middle part. he was dress in a white tshirt and khakis pants.

his eyes met mine, and tears formed in my eyes. i stayed where i was. i wanted to run and hug him so bad, but i couldn't.

"y/n..." he whispered, taking steps towards me but i didn't move a bone. "god, you're still beautiful."

"why are you here?" i asked sadly.

"i-i came back for you, and addie-," he spoke but i cut him off.

"after a year adam?!" i shouted. "you left and now you come back for us after a year?" i scoffed.

"i didn't have a choice." he shouted. "i wanted to stay! i wanted to stay with my family! i didn't make the choice to move to a different state because of my father!"

"you could've at least fought harder! you barely tried to stay here! with us." i cried.

"please don't cry," he walked up to me and placed a hand on my cheek. i hated crying, and he knew that. "i hate seeing you like this, especially if i'm the reason."

i looked away from his blue eyes and to the ground.

"you know how my father is..." he sighed. "he threatened me to move away from you guys, and i couldn't risk hurting you guys. i love you and addie way to much to know that you guys got hurt. especially if i had a choice to protect you guys.

"i talked with my father, and he finally let me make my own decision. and i made that decision to come back here and be with you guys. i miss you so fuckin much, y/n. you know i do. i never stopped thinking about you or our babygirl. there wasn't a day that you guys didn't cross my mind. you guys were all i thought about." he whispered the last part, as he rested his forehead on mind. i closed my eyes and let the rest of my tears fall. "i can't live without you guys."

"i missed you too," i whispered. "so damn much."

i opened my eyes to see his blue ones already staring into mine. he leaned forward, his lips pressing onto mine.

i immediately kissed back. i missed his touch, his lips. it's almost like our first kiss over. my vanilla flavored chapstick mixed with the salt from the rain was flavored into our kiss. i didn't care though, because i miss his lips so much.

we pulled away, our forehead resting on one another. "god damn, your lips still taste like vanilla." he chuckled and i pushed him. "where's my baby?" he asked excitedly and i pointed to the car door.

he nodded his head and went to open the door. addie was still asleep in her car seat. adam took her seatbelt off and shook her awake.

she tiredly woke up, stretching her arms and yawning. adjusting her eyes open, she saw her daddy's face. "daddy?" she asked excitedly with a smile.

"hi baby." he says as addie jumped onto him. "you've gotten so big, baby." he chuckled.

"let's go into the house." i said. we walked to the front door. i unlocked and let them in before going in myself.

as we all took off our shoes, addie climbed onto her dad for dear life. as she placed her head on his shoulder, sobs came from her.

"princess what's wrong?" adam worriedly asked.

"i-i mi-missed you," she cried, and i could feel myself sadden from her cries.

"i know baby, i did too." he said, rubbing her back.

"why you leave us daddy? mommy and i was so sad," she frowned, looking at adam who had tears in his eyes.

"grandpa made me leave baby, but i'm not leaving you two no more. i love you guys to death to leave you again," he kissed her cheek, while bringing me into him. he then pecked my lips.

"promise?"

"i promise princess."
