Amanda's POV
"Please pick up this dress." James said to me.
"Why?" I frowned and looked at the red dress.
"For the ball." He said.
"What kind of ball? Why didn't you tell me this?" I asked.
"I'm sorry. I forget." He said. I sighed and I put on that dress, put on makeup, put on my shoes and one of my tiara.
When I was done I stepped out the door.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked.
"How?" He mumbled.
"So guiltily." I frowned.
"Excuse me. You're gorgeous. Can we go?" I nodded weirdly. He's acting so weird. He's so serious. What could be in the background?
I walked down in silence after my name was announced and looked at the other people, who are usually older people. I was a little shocked when there were girls and boys my age or a little older. I walked beside my mother. What's happening?
"Welcome everyone! I am glad to have so many of us here in such a short time. Just so in the beginning to have fun!" She said. It was short.
"Would you like to dance with me?" A guy asked me.
"Sure." I said and we went to the dance floor.
"By the way I'm Liam. You look so beautiful." He said after we start to dance.
"Thanks." I said embarrassingly.
"Is something wrong? Aren't you feeling well?" He asked desperately. I shook my head.
"Don't even worry about me. I was just thinking." I smiled and he smiled back.
We chatted pleasantly and with the other people as well. Everyone was so interested, and it was so good to finally be with my peers.
Two hours later I sat down in the chair to relax a bit.
"Hi." A girl sat next to me.
"Hi." I smiled at her.
"I'm Melanie Foster." She held out her hand to me.
"I'm Amanda Costigan. Nice to meet you." I said.
"What's up?" She asked.
"Nothing special. I relax a bit because dancing in these shoes is tiring." I said.
"You know I didn't mean that." She said. I frowned. "Have you chosen yet?" She asked.
"Choose what?" I reached for the champagne bottle with my hand and drank a little.
"Future husband or wife." I started coughing. "Oh my god. Are you okay?" She asked desperately.
"Yeah." I said after a minute. "What?"
"What, what?" She looked at me questioningly. "Didn't you even know about it?" I shook my head. "Your mom invited princesses and princes from all countries so you can choose who you want to marry. I'm actually here for the sake of the party because well you know they don't really invite nobody to another castle." I shocked.
"I have already a girlfriend." I mumbled. She looked surprised.
"When why...?" I interrupted her.
"Because she isn't of a royal family." I said.
"Where is she now?" She asked.
"I think in the hostel." I said.
"I hope she didn't read the news." She said.
