Corbyn's POV

I knew Zach was going to deny it but this morning I decided to ask him why he and Maddie seemed to hate each other but spent time together. He told me nothing was going on so I just dropped it. I couldn't force him. When I got downstairs I saw Jonah and Daniel talking on the porch. "Hey, aren't you supposed to be at Madison's house?"

"I'm heading there," I told him with a smile. "See you later."

When I got to Madison's house, a man who I assumed to be her dad answered the door. We were spending the day together getting different things done. "Who are you?" the man asked.

He was a tall middle-aged man with dark brown hair that had some grey streaks. "I'm Corbyn Besson. Your daughter Madison and I were supposed to hang out."

He eyed me suspiciously before turning towards the stairs. "Maddie. There's someone here at the door named Corbyn."

"Let him in," a voice said from upstairs and the man stepped aside.

"Second door to the left," he told me and I ran upstairs.

I found Madison laying in bed with her laptop on her stomach. She looked adorable with a messy bun and the hoodie I'd given her. She grinned up at me and moved over so I could join her. I laid next to her and kissed her cheek. "Hey beautiful," I whispered, when I noticed a bruise under her left eye. "What happened?"

"Hi, handsome. What do you mean?" She asked and I gave her a serious look.

"Who hurt you?" I asked.

"No one. I just fell," she lied.

"You fell on your eye? Come on. Just tell me," I pleaded with her.

She refused to tell me and I finally dropped it. I had a feeling I knew who it was anyway. "Is the assumption that you're the school genius in the band true?" she asked and I shrugged as I looked over her shoulder.

"Depends on what you need help with," I told her. "Math and science were my strong points."

She looked at me before going back to her laptop. It looked like she was studying for an introduction to law exam. I sat up and got out my guitar. "Do you mind? I still have to work on a song."

"Go ahead. Music helps me concentrate," she muttered, not even looking in my direction.

I began to work on the music while she continued studying. This went on for about an hour before I noticed she had dozed off. I put the laptop on her desk and pulled the blanket over her, before continuing on our new song. I eventually put the guitar away and stood up when she began to stir. "Where are you going?"

"I was going to do some shopping for the house. I was gonna come back after I was done. I didn't want to wake you up," I replied. "Unless you want to come."

She nodded and sat up. "Just give me five minutes to change."

I left the room and went downstairs to see her parents in the living room talking. I waved and went to my car. A few minutes later, Madison got in and tossed her purse in the backseat. As we drove to the store she told me about what made her want to study law and her plans for the future. I began to zone out when I saw the blue car following us. I quickly pulled onto the highway and sped up. As soon as I lost the blue car I got on the exit. "Where are we going?" Madison asked.

"Oh... um... the mall across town," I stuttered. "I needed a change of scenery."

She gave me a strange look before continuing what she was telling me. My phone rang and I had it connect to my car. "Talk to me about the tenth," I said.

"Oh. Sorry," Jack stuttered. "I just wanted to tell you that we should be getting our new delivery soon. Jon made the order."

"Thank you," I sighed. "I'll be ready."

"What's happening on the tenth?" Madison asked as I parked.

I didn't reply as I let her out of the car. I started to walk into the mall but she grabbed my arm and pulled me close to her. "What's wrong baby?" I sighed.

"If you want this relationship to work you can't keep hiding things from me," she pouted and ran a hand through my hair.

I rested my chin on the top of her head as I tried to come up with an answer. "It's just a meeting that we can't talk about. We can't let the fans know so I guess we just kept it a secret," I lied.

She looked skeptically at me before accepting my answer. "Well then. I'll just be surprised with the rest of the fans."

We walked through the store picking different things that the house would need when a girl ran up to us. I groaned inwardly, remembering that I'd left my sunglasses in the car. I didn't really mind getting noticed but I couldn't even begin to imagine the rumors that would spread if they saw me with Madison. "Hi there. How are you?"

"I'm great," the girl said excitedly. "I didn't want to bother you but I just wanted to say hi."

Still feeling skeptical I smiled slightly. "Always happy to meet a fan."

"Good to meet you," she said and ran off to her friends.

Madison turned to me and raised an eyebrow. "Do you handle fans on every shopping trip?" she asked, clearly trying not to laugh.

"Not every shopping trip," I muttered and grabbed a bag to put the vegetables in.

When we got to my house, I left Madison to talk with Jasmine while I took Zach upstairs to have a small talk. "So... Jack called."

Zach lowered his eyes and I knew there was something he didn't want to tell me. "We're canceling tours."

"What?" I yelled and he quickly shushed me. "I'm sorry. Why?"

"It would be too much of a risk to our fans. Daniel is refusing to go on tour until this all settles and I agree with him," Zach stuttered as his eyes widened in realization. "He didn't run this by you did he?"

"I'm going to kill that boy," I snapped and stormed out of the room with Zach following behind me nervously.

"Seavey!" I snapped as I went into his room.

He looked up from his book and a look of guilt immediately crossed his face. "Corbyn, I had to."

"You have to run this shit by me," I snapped. "We have to think of something to tell Jon."

"Family-related?" Daniel stuttered and I paused.

It couldn't hurt to make it seem like we didn't want to go on tour because we wanted to be able to see our families without the restrictions from the pandemic. Daniel still seemed anxious that I was near him. "Fine. Next time though."

He nodded. "Yes sir."
