Corbyn's POV (cont...)

"So..." the officer sighed as he looked at me and leaned across the table.

I raised an eyebrow at him and he nodded slowly before getting up. "Stay there. I'm going to compare notes with the other officer."

I smirked at him as he stepped out of the room. I knew I wasn't getting arrested, as long as Madison had stuck to the story we'd rehearsed. I looked around the room when I saw someone familiar standing at the window. The officer came back and looked disappointed. "You can go to the reception. Your story lines up with the evidence. I'll have the release forms out in a bit."

He removed the handcuffs and I pushed past him, ready to get out of that room. If he hadn't based it on what Madison had said then it was still possible I'd get arrested. "Hey, can we go?" Daniel asked.

"Let's wait for Maddie," I told him. "She should be out soon.

"So you told him the rehearsed story?" Jonah asked, motioning for me to sit down.

I was about to respond when a police cars pulled in. The door opened and the officer pulled Noah out.

Madison's POV

"Is that all?" The officer asked and I nodded, trying to keep the smile off my face.

"Yes sir," I replied. "I wouldn't kill someone if you wanted me to."

He glanced back at his notes and slowly began to nod. "Okay. It checks out with the evidence. Noah has been brought in because of your boyfriend so I think we're good to go."

"Great," I said as he took the handcuffs off. "Can I see him now?"

The officer opened the door. "Go ahead."

I hurried down the hall until I made it to the reception when Corbyn immediately stood up. "You can go too?"

I nodded. "I had this all under control."

Just as I said that an officer approached us. "Which one of you is Zach Herron?"

Zach stood up. "I am."

The officer pulled out handcuffs. "You're under the arrest for the murder of Jacob Lakin."

"What?" The boys gasped as I bit my lip. "How?"

"An anonymous tip," the officer replied as he led him away. "You have the right to remain silent..."

Corbyn put an arm around me as we slowly made our way out, knowing there was nothing we could do for Zach without giving ourselves away. "How we made it through that without getting us all arrested, I have no idea."

I smiled to myself and Corbyn and Jonah put their arms around me. It was a fun story to tell. Too bad none of it was true, but now I had them right where I wanted.
