Madison's POV
I got dressed and walked downstairs. Jonah and Corbyn got quiet when they saw me. Chloe grinned. "Turn around."
I did a small turn and I noticed Corbyn biting his lip. "You're stunning my love."
That was the first time he'd called me anything other than Maddie, and to be honest, I kind of liked it. Jonah looked me up and down as Corbyn pulled me closer to him. I smirked at Jonah. "Look all you want."
Realizing he was caught, he walked away and Jasmine laughed. "Go have fun guys."
When we got to the restaurant Corbyn had me link my arm with his and we went inside. The host saw us and looked at their screen. "Name for the reservation?"
"Besson," Corbyn replied and the host nodded and led us to our seat.
I looked around once we'd sat down. There was a golden chandelier in the middle of the dining area. Our view of the city was stunning. I could see why anyone would love it here. Our waiter poured us some wine while we talked.
As we got to the end of the meal, Corbyn leaned across the table and took my hand. "I know I asked you this before, but I wanted to ask you while we were here."
"About being official?" I asked and he nodded shyly.
I looked at him for a few seconds. I really did love him but I also knew he was keeping things from me. I sighed. He would tell me when it was time. Or was I trusting him too much? My parent's voices kept running through my head but I finally blocked it out. "I love you Corbs."
He looked relieved that I hadn't told him no. We paid the bill and he led me to the car. We drove through the town, talking about childhood memories. He was planning on having a walk on the beach when the phone rang. He pulled over and picked it up. "Evans, how can I help you?"
There was silence before Corbyn's eyes widened. "I can't. I'm on a date right now. Surely we can wait a little longer. Please."
Corbyn seemed incredibly stressed after he hung up. He gave a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "We'll have to finish this date some other night. I'm really sorry. Something came up," he muttered.
"Not a problem," I said, not wanting to upset him. "Want to talk about it?"
"No," he sighed and started the engine.
We drove in silence for nearly an hour before he parked in front of a warehouse. I frowned at him, but he didn't even acknowledge me. He got out of the car and went inside. I pulled out my phone and decided to text Jasmine about some plans for tomorrow. I heard something crash before Corbyn started screaming. What had made him so angry? He came out the door with someone trying to comfort him. He pushed them away and got in the car. He started the engine and sped out of the parking lot. I looked at the dashboard and saw we were going way over the speed limit. "Slow down," I said calmly.
He didn't respond and I was getting scared. "Corbyn!"
He looked at me and I saw a mix of fear and anger in his eyes. "What do you want Maddie?"
"Just pull over," I pleaded.
Corbyn pulled over and I quickly put the car in park. He rested his head on the wheel and I realized he was shaking. I put a hand on his back but he pushed me away. I wanted to know what had upset him, but he refused to talk to me about it. I winced as he hit the wheel. "What happened?"
I attempted to put a hand on his shoulder again and this time he didn't pull away. We stayed like that for a bit before I told him to let me drive. I knew if he did we could end up getting killed. He was silent as I drove. He reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "Lighter?"
I glanced down and saw it on the door. I handed it to him and he rolled down the window. He seemed to calm down a few minutes later. When we got home he went straight to his room and slammed the door. Jack raised an eyebrow at me. "Everything okay?"
"We stopped at a warehouse and then he just completely lost it," I replied.
Jack sighed. "Did he get a phone call?"
"Yeah, but I have no idea what it was about," I told him and he groaned.
Jack gave me a reassuring hug. "I'll go have a talk with him.
