I let out a light burp, patting my round belly. "Ah, that was good," I said with a satisfied groan.
The food here is the best than the food in my past life.
"The chefs would be glad if they hear this, young master," The butler said who's standing behind me for the whole time.
I grinned. "Is that so?"
The butler chuckled and reached for a napkin to wipe off the sauce that was still sticking on the corner of my mouth. I blushed in embarrassment. "Absolutely."
The way the butler gently wipes my mouth feels so kind and warm. Like a parent taking care of his son.
"Is there something wrong, young master?" The butler asked, noticing that I was staring at him with wide eyes.
I flinched and immediately shook my head. "N-Nothing!" I said with an awkward laugh. "Thank you, mister!"
The doors to the dining room suddenly burst open, revealing an angry 6-year-old girl. She glared at me as soon as she found me still on my seat, I raised a brow at her, confused.
Right, there were four children in the family. I forgot about her.
"You made my twin cry!" The girl yelled as she made her way towards me, slamming her hand hard on the table.
Oof, that hurt... I thought. I smiled at my dear stepsister. "Good morning, Agatha," I greeted sweetly with a sprinkle of sarcasticness in my tone. "You're so cheerful today."
"Don't give me that smile! Arwen told me that you bullied him!" Agatha yelled, her forehead's starting to wrinkle. Oh my.
"Dear sister, is it okay for you to act like that in front of the servants?" I asked, tilting my head. "It's very unlady-like. Mother will get upset."
Agatha flinched and looked around the people around her, her eyes widened in horror. She looks back down at me who's watching her in amusement which made her furious. "F-For the sake of my twin, I would forget acting like a noble lady."
"Is that so?" I raised a brow, earning a hesitant nod from the older. "My! How sweet you are sister!"
"Don't you dare call me that, I'm not your sister."
"That hurt." I pouted. "And about brother Arwen, I didn't bully him, I just reminded him that he should act more... noble, or he'll ruin the Sheridan name. You sure know that father won't accept an unruly son like him."
"Learn your place you brat," Agatha said, standing up for her twin. "He doesn't need your interrogation. Arwen is a perfect Sheridan as he is."
Now that pissed me off.
In the book, Azazel grew up studying to be a perfect Sheridan just to get his father's attention. And the fact that these half-siblings of his were just goofing around yet their father adores them and gave them the attention that they want. It just pissed me off.
And there I realized that Azazel had the saddest backstory in the book.
"So are you telling me that the perfect way to be accepted in the family was to just goof around and stay stupid?"
That took Agatha off guard.
"We seek for the light that the gods enlightened, that's what our motto says," I continued, turning my chair to fully face the older. "Is being stupid what the motto in our family meant?"
