The Cullens and Adelaide gathered around the living area waiting for the birthday girl to arrive everyone seemed to be settling into their conversation all except Emmett.
Adelaide cast the spell for them so the family would be able to enjoy the dinner as well though they had agreed to wait for the Swan woman but to Emmett it seemed as an eternity as he cried out, "Can we eat now? The food is going to get cold."
It did not help him that Alice went looking for Edward and Bella, and to Emmett, she was taking her time.
"Why had I cast the spell beforehand?" Adelaide questioned herself with a small sigh rubbing her head, glancing over to the vampire who was so desperate to eat being quite vocal about it. "It would have been simpler to find a spell where he cannot speak."
Rosalie herself had to agree with her friend seeing how eager her husband was to dig into the food and while she could not fault him knowing that in his human years, he did have quite the appetite after twenty minutes of his complaining it became too much.
"Darling if you had found one we would have asked for that spell a while ago." Jasper stood beside Adelaide with a smirk playing on his lips knowing he did not need his abilities to figure out how annoyed everyone had been by Emmett's complaints.
Hearing the two Emmet turned to the couple with a raised eyebrow reminding them of their distance which could not matter much when he still had the ability to hear them perfectly, "You two realize I can hear you right?"
"You were meant to." Without hesitation, the couple responded having the starving vampire drop his jaw, especially after Rosalie, his own wife, stifled a laugh of her own understanding her family's irritation.
Carlisle and Esme stared at their family with the biggest grins neither had seen their house so filled with love and joy for so long they had hoped for their children to find some joy in life it seemed that the joy came in the form of Adelaide and Bella which in every sense they could not be more grateful.
Adelaide seemed to be able to connect with all of them, not just Jasper or Edward. She was able to bring more joy into their lives, some part of them that felt human again.
