You let out a loud, burdened exhale while your heart skipped a beat. It was almost automatic that your nervousness grew every time you made eye contact with the last person you wanted to see tonight.
Jung was probably the epitome of intrusive bastards whenever he drank. He wasn't necessarily a lightweight; his tolerance was pretty good but whenever he was with his friends, things can get overboard since they're a group of hard party people.
And you remember that's how Jung found the way to cheat on you back then.
You shrug the thought away since you didn't care about his business anymore, but every time you'd run into him intoxicated after you broke up with him, it was a pain in the ass. He always played pitifully and used his manipulative emotions, making sure he always got what he wanted— to be specific, he was the pushy type.
Thankfully, Jung didn't notice you even if he looked in your direction. You could see he was getting loud and reckless with his friends and a random group of girls; maybe he was too drunk to notice you. Either way, you'd rather not run into him because the outcome was obvious. Not to mention that he texted you again, asking if you wanted to meet up.
You were able to escape that obstacle and you suddenly thought of the what-ifs. What if he recognized you and you were considered powerless around him. Sungho nor Heechul haven't come back from parking and the girls would never match up to Jung's strong persistence.
The faint thought of Wonwoo crossed your mind. If Wonwoo was here, it'll be no problem. He would sweep you away from Jung, maybe even shoo him away a lot more than you imagined Sungho would.
You were starting to think about Wonwoo who was probably not doing the same— the thought of him enjoying with his high school friends, with his ex there as well, made you let out a heavy sigh.
All of a sudden, you feel distant from Wonwoo.
You unconsciously pull out your phone from your bag, finding yourself checking if Wonwoo, by chance, replied. Obviously, there was nothing.
I should really stop, you thought as you slip your phone right back in. Just because we kissed, that didn't mean I'm his girlfriend— the more I let my emotions take over me, the more I'll just spoil my mood.
Just as you lift your head, you see Heechul's grinning face with a bottle of tequila in his hand, probably from the bar. Sungho was behind him with the glasses in his hand, enough for the five of you guys. The looks on their faces said that it wouldn't be your only bottle for tonight.
You watched Heechul open the bottle as soon as Sungho sets down the shot glasses on the table, Hana scooting over to give the guys space to sit on the cushioned seats. Eun-kyung's giggly excitement started to fill up the table, being a bit louder than the blasting music inside the pub. Hands started to reach out towards the center, picking one shot glass each.
"C'mon, Y/N. What are you waiting for?" Hana somehow made you snap out of your distracting thoughts with a smile. "Cheers!"
You didn't hesitate any further, swiftly grabbing the shot glass before the five of you make a small toast. A smile crept up your lips right before your glasses made a soft clink.
"Cheers," you say before the five of you take a shot together, and finally, you managed to shrug off your current worries— or at least in the meantime.
It was better than never.

The night continued as if finals weren't around the corner. You couldn't recall how many shots you've taken as few empty liquor bottles were already gathering on your table. Maybe because it was the side orders Sungho ordered for the table but surprisingly, you were not even close to being tipsy. You did feel the alcohol in your system; it wasn't anything bad, probably because as usual, some of your other friends were already getting a lot noisier.
