"Ow-"
Inumaki immediately pulled away his hands from you. Realizing it, you turned to face his worried expression. You relaxed your hands in front of you while in a stretching position, shrugging off his worried gaze.
"Inumaki, I'm alright."
You couldn't help but frown, slightly hurt that he was treating you too gently. After all, the two of you had always practiced together. Though still, you could only grin as he doted on you endlessly.
The lush grass that you sat on hinted a scent of the past rain, the early daylight slowly creeping in from the trees surrounding the field. As you pushed back your hair and stood up, Inumaki followed as he yawned with his ruffled up hair.
After your promotion to a sorcerer of grade 1, you and Inumaki were able to spend more time together. With similar gradings, the two of you had a higher possibility in attending missions together. But even though that, my back still hurts from before.
As you faced the young sleepy boy, you couldn't help but stifle a chuckle when you noticed something. A butterfly laid on his hair, its small figure illuminated aglow with its vivid wings.
"What are you looking at?"
You simply grinned, walking and leaning closer towards him,
"Stay still."
Nearing your pointer finger towards the creature, you stayed still for a while, face full of calmness and composure. Finally, the tiny butterfly crept onto your finger, and you gently pulled it towards you. Inumaki's widened eyes gave you a bit of laughter, a blush forming on his cheeks as you gazed at it.
With white pairs of wings, they softly flapped every once in a while. Somehow, the platinum color that the butterfly was in reminded you of Inumaki.
"It looks like you, don't you think?"
Glimpsing at the confused boy in front of you, you watched as the butterfly softly leave your finger and towards the azure sky,
"Pretty."
And suddenly, a tint of rosy red crept into Inumaki's ears, his flustered face tilted towards the ground. You grinned in reply, stretching your hands up to the sky.
"I can't guess your thoughts," Inumaki softly muttered under his breath, barely audible for you to hear.
Soon, you started walking, waving your hands towards him,
"I'm gonna go buy some groceries for lunch. Wanna come along?"
With an enthusiastic nod as he jogged quickly towards you, Inumaki peaked over your shoulders as you pulled out your phone. As you scrolled through the dimmed screen of your browser, the two of you left the school grounds, walking towards the bus station.
