Seeing Love Differently

Birthday

My birthday is coming up this Friday and Harry said he will be in London all week until Sunday so I don't think he remembers. Or maybe he is going to send a present by owl post.

Friday...

My birthday has come at last and no owl has come. I am pretty sad. I have been in my house here for the last six hours in my room crying because Harry had forgotten my birthday. There was no owl and it is already 6 o'clock pm. The Weasleys are here but none of them have been able to cheer me up yet. Charlie and Ginny have come by, and George tried to make me laugh but even he was unsuccessful. I was still crying when someone picked the lock from the outside and came in quietly and I felt the mattress sink a few inches when someone sat down beside me. I felt a hand gingerly placed on my back and gently rubbing up and down as I sobbed. it was Ron.

"Ron what does it feel like when Lavender forgets a important date?"

"Oh, um..." He seemed a bit taken aback. It had happened before. Lavender had forgotten the date of their anniversary.

"I know, I've seen it." I didn't let him answer.

"And right now, I feel that way."

There was a tap on the window. Ron went over to open it and gasped.

"Hermione look at this owl! It's beautiful!"

I looked up. It was the most beautiful owl ever! There was a note attached to it. It flew in and landed on my shoulder and nipped my hand lightly. I smiled and untied the note and a box from her leg. It was from Harry.

Dear Hermione,
I'm sorry this package is late.
I had to be at a meeting.
Honey I wish you a very happy birthday.
I miss you sweetie
Love, Harry

I opened the box inside was a ferret (a live one) and a bouquet of roses. Then when I lifted the ferret out it spun and Harry was standing there and picked up the bouquet of flowers from the bed where I left it. I happen in awe for a moment while Harry smiled and said

"Happy birthday honey." And hugged me tightly I hugged him back.

He pulled away and saw my eyes, red from crying and said

"Ron, Get out"

Ron got out then Harry turned back to me and said

"Why were you crying Mione?"

He asked me looking worried now. I said

"I thought you had forgotten my birthday so I have been crying since 3 pm."

And he said

"I'm so sorry Mione baby, I had a meeting at 4:00am and it lasted until 5:30pm. I'm so sorry please forgive me?"

"I know Harry, you are busy and why are you here? You said you'll be gone all week."

Harry grinned and replied

"I got off, they said that my auror skills will be going to waste if I went on that mission so they had someone else do it. And so Mione, that is your new owl" Harry said gesturing to the barn owl now perched on the windowsill.

"What are you going to name her?"

"I want to name her Hedwig, after your first owl Harry."

Harry's mouth was smiling but there were tears in his eyes. He was remembering how he loved Hedwig. He started to say something, but I stopped him with a kiss. We stood there kissing and then there was a knock.

"Oh my god Harry!"

It was Ginny. She jumped into his arms. He twirled her around and set her down and they hugged

"I so happy you are back." she said

"This place has been full of Zombies since you left."

I didn't mind Ginny and Harry talking like this because everyone likes Harry. He is so friendly. Then Harry turned to me and said

"Hermione we gotta go shopping we are getting our paychecks in two months."
