First Day at Hogwarts

James pov

We got our schedules today at breakfast.

Gryffindor First Years
Herbology..............Gryffindor, Hufflepuff
Transfiguration......Gryffindor, Slytherin
Lunch
DA Dark Arts...........Gryffindor, Ravenclaw
Flying Lessons.........Gryffindor, Slytherin
Dinner

I looked over at the Ravenclaw table when I saw that we had DADA together. I caught Mei's eye. She smiled and nodded. I turned back and told Nora and Yosef I would be right back. And I stepped out of the Great Hall with Mei. She showed me her schedule. She had Transfiguration with Slytherin, Potions with Hufflepuff, lunch, DA with us and Potions with Hufflepuff again. I told her about some of the teachers and students.

I told her to be careful not to get in trouble in any of her classes with the Slytherins. We popped our heads through the doorway of the Great Hall and pointed out Samantha, Mackenzie and Ima and told her to be careful with them and not to let them get her down.

"... and Mei, remember if anything worries you or gets you down you can come to me. I'm here for you. You can tell my dad that you want to speak with me or find another way to let me know."

She nodded and gave me a slight smile and slipped through the arched doorway of the Great Hall. I followed and saw her go and sit at the Ravenclaw table. I went back to my seat when someone came behind me and said

"You got a letter from Lily buddy."

I smiled, turned around and hugged dad. He gave me the letter and I thanked him. I opened the letter.

Dear James,
I hope you are having fun at school! Did you like the surprise?
Lilly and I both knew that dad was going to be your teacher because mum and dad told us at Diagon Alley.
They wanted it to be a surprise for you so we kept quiet.
Mum's back and she is doing ok.
Make sure you say hi to dad and give him hugs from all of us.

I smiled and walked up to the teacher's table where dad was sitting. He smiled at me and I said

"Lily said to say hi to you and hugs from her, Lilly, Albus, and Mum."

"Ok buddy I got it. Do you have me today?"

"Yes, right after lunch!"

"Ok then, but remember no special treatment from me. But see me after class."

"Sure thing dad."

I went to Herbology with Nora and Josh. Professor Longbottom was there and next to him was a scary-looking plant.

Nora gasped behind me. When I looked back she whispered

"That's a Venomous Tentacula."

"Ok class, today you will be taking notes on the Venomous Tentacula. I will be explaining what it does while you take notes and we will have a quiz on it next week. Now who can tell me what the Venomous Tentacula looks like?"

I raised my hand, and Nora's shot up as well

"Well, how about Mr.Potter?"

Nora looked a bit disappointed but looked at me as I gave the answer.

"The Venomous Tentacula is a green, spiky, toothsome plant that has mobile vines. It uses those vines to grab living prey."
