My foot was pressed against the pedal, tears cascading down my face as the buildings passed my peripheral vision.
A sigh escaped my lips as I swiftly moved to wipe a tear off of my cheek.
“Why-” I muttered.
My phone in my pocket rang, as I raced down the road, nearly empty due to the early morning time.
I slid my hand in the pocket, grabbing the phone and glancing down. I slowed the car’s speed and answered the call.
“Yes?”
“Hey…”
“What is it? It’s four in the morning.”
“Did you tell him?”
“Just did. I’m in the car right now.”
“I’m sorry.” She spoke. “I wish we didn’t have to hide it.”
“What are you talking about, Ash?”
“I didn’t mean to…” She whispered.
“Mean to what, Ashido?”
“I lied.”
“About what?” I said, pulling the car over, forgetting to turn my blinker on, thankfully not in vain as the road was empty.
“Izuku.”
“What about him?”
“You broke up with him, right?”
“Not officially, no.” I said, becoming anxious about her words.
“He has something that he told me once.” She muttered.
“Are you drunk, Mina?” I asked.
“No.”
“Spit it out.” I ordered, my eyes darting around the city.
“He-” She stuttered. “You know Hitoshi, right?”
“What about him?”
“Hitoshi and Izuku.” She said. “They drink and shit.”
“Okay?” I said.
“Don’t bother Izuku about it, but there’s other stuff-”
“Goddammit, what is it, Mina?” I shouted.
“They do drugs. Like hardcore drugs. He has drugs on him, right now. They’ve been doing it since junior year. I tried to stop them, but-”
“You mean to tell me that my ex-boyfriend and his best friend have been doing drugs for four years?” I said, in disbelief, testing the waters of the conversation and the malleability of the truth.
“Yes. Coke and heroin and pills, all kinds of shit.”
“Why are you telling me this now?”
“You just broke up with a man with dangerous drugs on him, Ochako.”
It clicked.
“Oh shit.”
“Go.”
I hung up the phone, throwing it on the passenger’s seat, pulling the car out of park harshly. My hands turned the wheel, jerking it.
“Dammit. Dammit. God dammit!” I panicked, rushing down the road, back to the house.
“Please.” I pleaded. “Izuku, please.”
Lights blurred by as I pushed against the gas pedal, racing back home.
I pulled in the driveway, harshly braking and pushing the knob in park.
