Chapter Ten

"Is there something wrong with Jackson?" I asked as we were going down the highway to the mall.

"What do you mean?" Sharon asked.

"Well it just seems that ever since I moved in to your guys' house, he has been acting a little weird. He hasn't really talked to me."

"I think he is just a little over excited."

"Over excited about what?"

"About you staying at our house."

"Oh I see. Does Jackson......" I stopped myself. I don't want to know if Jackson has a crush on me or not. If I ever found out it would most likely ruin our friendship. Yeah Jackson is really cute, but I don't know if I like him like he would like me.

I don't know if I like Jackson like that at all. To me he has always represented the brother figure I have never had. How would I know if I like him like that anyways? I've never had a boyfriend or a crush on anyone.

"Martha?" Sharon asked.

"Huh?" I said.

"We are here. You must have zoned out. Let's go." She said getting out of the car.

I got out too and followed her into the mall. I've never really been inside the mall. I normally just went to used clothes stores or WalMart to buy my clothes. Mostly the used clothing stores because WalMart isn't really the cheapest place to buy clothes.

"Where do you want to go first?" Sharon asked as we walked into the Dick's Sporting Goods store from outside.

"I don't know. I have never been into a mall so I don't know what stores are in here." I said.

"Well you've got JcPenny's and Macy's. Hot Topic if you want graphic tee's. Pick a store from those three and then if you see a store on the way to whatever store you pick to go into, we will stop inside there okay?"

"Okay. I think I will go to Macy's."

"Macy's it is."

The mall was huge! It was crowded as well. People were walking together, couples kissing around the water fountain(not the kind you drink out of the ones you throw pennies in).

When we got to Macy's, you could probably guess who I saw. Sutton.

"Well looky who I see, Martha the brainyack. Brainyack is in the mall, with her mom."

"She isn't my mom, she is Jackson's and could you not think of something else to call me besides brainyack?"

"Oh she's your boyfriends mom? How sweet."

"Jackson is NOT my boyfriend. He is my FRIEND!"

"Whatever. Let's go Jesse, I can't stand the smell of her."

Sutton and Jesse, her new beau left. I knew this would happen. I just knew it.

"Is that girl always mean to you like that Martha?"

"Yes she is. Ever since we were little."

"Why does she think you and Jackson are boyfriend and girlfriend. I mean I know he l... never mind let's go into the store."

What was Sharon going to say? Was she going to say Jackson likes me? She really isn't going to know that though. Would she? I don't know. I just want to get out of this mall as fast as I can before I have a mental break down.
