Halle and I are at some radio show thing. It's basically just promo for the Saturn Awards in a few days time and we're just here to sing Dream On, talk about our jobs and leave. It's the main station in L.A. so hopefully heaps of people will be listening, and the committee will decided Halle and I are the winners of the best cover award.

We all attend this event, all the nominees that is, and then they tell us who is performing next and that's how we find out who won. If you don't win, at least  you had a free concert. It's a weird one, but having a Saturn award is beneficial to those in the industry who worm behind the scenes, it gets you places.

On TV, people will just be watching the yearly 'Saturn Festival' or whatever the hell it's called, so hopefully Halle and I get to perform there because I haven't even done that on my own, and Halle is nominated in two categories.

After the AMA's, we didn't talk much. I made myself busy, Halle was doing whatever she does when nobody is watching. The other day we spoke as friends for the first time in a while which was weird, I don't know why I made it awkward because by the sounds of it, Halle didn't care that I had been seen with another woman just hours after being with her. It was good to talk again though, and there aren't any hard feelings because we've been talking like normal again.

It's strange, because it started off as Halle being somebody who opens my tour for me, and somebody I had to be seen with so we're given more opportunities as artists, because you're given the chance to go to more events if you bring publicity. It isn't like that now though, Halle is too kind to be somebody I just 'pretend' to be friends with, she cares too much.

She's a good friend, a real friend. We might not have been friends for long, but I don't think time matters when it comes to relationships. Halle is a great person, and she's the type of person that in this industry, you can't let go. People like her don't come around often.

I don't regret what happened between us, but I am grateful we didn't go the whole way. I think if we did, it would be so much more difficult to ever look her in the eye and admit she's just a friend. It's hard enough as it is, but I think if we had gone further, it would be the first thing on my mind in the morning, and last at night before I fall asleep.

She's wearing high waisted blue jeans and she was wearing a denim jacket too, which is now over the chair in the radio studio due to the summer heat that gathers in rooms like these. Her T-shirt is red and has the sleeves cut off, whether she did that herself or not I don't know, but she pulls it off regardless. She pulled off the double denim too, one of not very many who can.

The radio host is called Steven, I've been a guest here before but I've never performed here. It feels right that the first time I am performing here is with Halle, I don't know why. It just does. We introduced ourselves and spoke about how we became friends, then we listened to adverts about teeth whitening strips and Marlboro cigarettes, the ones Halle and I smoke. It makes sense that Halle smokes them, they fit her whole aesthetic with the red packaging.

I tell myself Halle isn't somebody I think about 24/7, but then I hear the word 'Marlboro' and suddenly she's in my mind, just because the packaging has red on it.

I don't really know what to make of that. Sometimes my mind just wanders, and sometimes it just happens to wander down roads leading to Halle.

"Right guys, ready?" Steven asked, to which Halle and I nodded standing in front of the microphones in the studio, getting ready for another live performance of Dream On for radio.

Steven counted down silently from five with his fingers, and when he got to one that familiar intro played in the studio, signalling the beginning of the song. Halle and I didn't have to discuss how we'd sing it, we only ever have done once and it was the first time we ever did cover the song. It just happens naturally, we know who sings what, and we know what sounds good.
