What's Gonna Happen

The ambulance arrived at the hospital, just in time for the queue of police vehicles pulling in. As Emma climbed out the van, Marco caught sight of her.

"Mum!" He shouts, rushing out the police car and taking off towards her. Emma glanced round at the sound of her son, opening her good arm just in time to embrace him. "I'm so glad you're ok"

"Oh, kid, I missed you so much" Emma explained, a sigh of relief leaving her as she held him.

"I missed you too. Please, don't leave like that again" Marco begged, his grip increasing to stop her pulling away.

"Never again, kid. It's over, ok, it's all done... We are finally free" Emma happily said, so happy she can finally say this.

At the words, Marco couldn't help but cry; he was just so relieved and happy. Rita came rushing over, catching Emma's eye. Just in time, the blonde held her arm out and caught Rita in their hug.

"I was so fucking worried about you, Em" Rita sighed, squeezing the blonde to release her fear.

"It's ok, I'm ok" Emma said with a slight chuckle, pulling away from the pair. She placed a hand on each of their cheeks, just switching between them. "Thank you... So much! I probably wouldn't be alive right now if it wasn't for you two"

"Of course, we couldn't let this go on any longer" Rita replied, knowing it's been a long journey for them all.

"Wait, where is mum" Marco quickly asked, searching around to find the missing brunette.

"They are getting her out the ambulance, she got shot" Emma gently replied, knowing the pair are about to freak out.

"What?!"

"Again?"

"She had Ryan pinned to the floor, gun to his head and everything. She choice to spare him and in return he punched her off him and shot her in the stomach" Emma explained, her anger growing more as she thought about it.

"Oh my god" Marco said in shock, not believing such an awful thing.

"That fucking asshole, she should have just shot him" Rita huffed in anger, trying to hide her fear for her sister.

The sound of wheels moving caught their attention, all looking to see Regina being pushed out the ambulance in a medical bed. Rita ran over and pushed past paramedics, grabbing her sisters hand. Regina glanced at her with a smile, giving her hand a small squeeze.

"Thank you" Regina whispered, knowing the meaning behind was noted.

"Always" Rita replied, tears growing in her eyes at this.

Regina released her hand as she began to be taken into the hospital, struggling to stay awake. All three hurried into the building, seeing many policeman and doctors. A man approached Emma, seeing the condition her shoulder was in.

"Hi, I'm Dr Fox. I need to check you put and make sure this arm is properly seen to. Would you like to follow me to a bed over here please" he asked, gesturing to one of the many beds.

"Umm, sure as long as these two stay close to me" Emma requested, worried to let them out her sight.

"Of course, they can sit beside you" Dr Fox replied, giving a friendly smile to show he meant no harm.

He led the way towards the bed, hinting for Emma to get on. As he took the bandages away and examined her arm, two police officers came over. One was a tall woman with a note pad and the other was a guy who just lingered behind.

"Hi, Miss Swan, I'm officer Smith. We know you and your family are in a lot of pain so we will hold off questions until you are all stable" the woman kindly said, seeing the scrunched up face from the blondes shoulder ache.

"Thank you" Emma mumbled, finally feeling the pain her shoulder had to offer.

"We will inform you that Ryan, Rango, Chris and Riley have been taken into custody and shall not be able to hurt any of you" Officer Smith continued, reading off the small pad.

"Wait, what about Ryder" Rita quickly asked, instantly noticing the absence of his name.

"Come on, we both know he had nothing to do with this" Emma replied, knowing neither her nor Regina would press charges against him.

"I'm sorry to inform you of this but Ryan shot Ryder in the head as we were arresting them. He must have grew scared at them talking and shot him; we stopped him before he could shoot Riley" officer Smith said in a gentle voice, knowing this may hurt more than she thought.

"What?" Rita breathed out, her whole body falling into shock. "No, not Ryder, not another one"

Emma could see the tears filling in Rita's eyes, reach out to hold her hand. Even though Ryder knew all this, they both knew he only ever wanted out of it. For Rita to have lost her second sibling, it broke her; after all, he was her brother. Marco turned towards his aunt and hugged her, both unsure why they were so upset by this.

"I'm very sorry for your loss. We shall give you some time to recover and, once Regina is out of surgery, we shall come to talk" Officer Smith said, politely excusing herself and her partner.

"Hey, you ok" Emma softly asked, giving the brunettes hand a squeeze to get her attention.

"He killed Reina, he killed Ryder and now he may have killed Regina... If he has, I'm going to kill him" Rita sternly said, wiping the few tears she couldn't help but let out.

"Regina is strong, she can do this. I know it hurts and I know you're scared, I am too" Emma said, wanting to stand up and hug her but unable to.

"You don't get it. Growing up, I looked up to all of them. I have now lost Ryan, Reina, Ryder and Riley. If I loose Regina, I have lost all my siblings... I won't have a family"

"No matter what happens, we will always be your family" Marco quickly said, looking with only love and care in his eyes.

"Of course we will... But we have to have faith in Regina" Emma said with a reassuring smile, unsure who she was convincing.
