Waspi was obliged by the fairy chief of the village to guard and supervise the production of fairy powder, a magical powder... in fact a pollen absorbing mana and releasing it by compression, shaking or activating the pollen grains.
In the center of each "village" made up of huts and small wooden constructions, there was a water source.
The fairies loved this kind of place that they maintained and made beautiful.
They decorated and put flowers and lots of flowers singing and smiling.
There was a certain atmosphere that emanated from it but also a certain style, an advanced form of natural decoration.
I would even say a "Harmony".
And, the main room: "The fairy tree..."
It had the characteristic of producing pollen in exchange for crystals that were drowned in a kind of mouth like that of carnivorous plants and these crystals were transformed into different colors of pollen that were collected below.
The fairies spent most of their time producing pollen to run their kingdom. This powder was the main production of these beings and one could say, the heart of their economy.
We had the oil...they had the fairy powder....
Waspi often played with Zaya but she became more and more distant with it. The gossip, her appearance .
Despite their smiles and the "hypocritical" joy of these magical beings, they were not aware of it but they were racist by nature. And anything that didn't "conform" had to be dismissed as if it were taboo.
The Waspi appearance was not for nothing.
She was mocked as having come from a wasp larva instead of the moon dew on the flowers as all fairies are born.
Through this stigma, she came to develop feelings similar to the now extinct human species, without knowing it.
She knew how to cry, sadness, injustice, anger...and...hate.
She was beginning to hate her "Sisters" who never treated her as such.
But the main one was pissed off and gave her orders in a dry and unusual way.
"The Sunset Gnomes haven't arrived yet... Our production will suffer if they don't bring the mined ore..."
It was said out loud. Fairies often thought out loud...
Because there was never anything to fear.
Main: "Waspi, Zaya.." Go west to see if the gnomes are on the move with their cargo.
Waspi: "But they can fly...and so can their cart with the fairy dust!"
Principal: "I know you like to experiment but you destroyed your home and we have to sacrifice production time for your personal need. You know very well that any selfish intentions or personal gain is forbidden by Tiran, our Goddess. Since you officially have nothing else to do, take this as permission."
And, the two fairies flew off into the sunset.
Zaya: "You're weird and I don't recognize you anymore. Besides, you're wasting your time trying to understand what Mother Nature has done for all of us. By asking yourself so many questions, you will end up lost in your head".
Waspi : "You are becoming hard with me. We've played a lot together, haven't we?
Zaya. "We are big and we have to serve Tiran. Period. If you get bored and fed up, it's a sin. And you'll see, no one will talk to you anymore.
Waspi: "But you are my friend, right?
Zaya: "Friend?? is that new? It doesn't make sense. We are a beehive... but you should have stayed with the wasps.
Waspi: "You are hard on me now!"
Zaya: "You know that emotions are forbidden. Besides, it's a rare disease. Do you want to be banished? Is that it?"
Zaya stopped talking to Waspi. This angered her and made her cry.
Her companion showed a denunciatory look.
"When we get home, I'm going to tell Principal that you're sick."
"No, I'm begging you...not that!"
Then they were attracted by a plume of smoke rising into the sky.
The gnome village!
The fairies sped up and looked at the desolation.
There was no one left and the mushroom-shaped houses were ravaged by flames, well what was left standing.
The walls were punctured everywhere, showing splinters like millions of tiny pickaxes.
And... in the central square, a huge purple stain...
gnome blood.
Pieces of ears, punctured hats and tattered, but often burnt or partially charred clothes littered the ground here and there.
A massacre... no... an extermination.
Impassively, Zaya looked around:
"Here is the cart with the load!"
Waspi turned red with anger.
You see a massacre and all you can think about is the supply of magic powder...
Don't you feel a little sorry or empathy for these poor creatures?
Zaya: "They have returned to the earth!
Waspi: "But are you crazy? You can see the pieces!"
