"I cannot believe you actually ate that." I gagged lightly at the thought of Sam enjoying that disgusting burger. I mean obviously the idea was him trying it and thinking it was horrid, but not liking it so much he would finish the whole thing.
"Riley, you wanted me to." He shrugged as he pulled out of the parking spot.
"How could you even finish it?" He looked over at me while we were waiting at a red light and smirked slightly.
"Really wanted a kiss." He mumbles as he turns back to the now green light and drives towards my house.
I looked out the window and pretended I didn't hear him. I don't think I'm ready to kiss Sam. I don't even like him.
In the almost silent car, I could hear Sam breaking up a mint in his mouth, freshening his breath so we didn't have to smell that awful burger anymore.
I stared at the dark, empty house as we pulled up. My parents haven't been home much, they work practically all day so I never see them anymore.
I sighed as I undid my seat belt and climbed out of the car, Sam following behind me. I unlocked the door and was about to close it when Sam pushed his way into the doorway.
"What are you doing?" I asked him, confused.
"I'm not leaving you here by yourself, Riley." He have a pointed look to the empty driveway.
I didn't even bother to argue and walked up the steps to my bedroom, assuming Sam was coming along as well. It wasn't too late, but I still walked into my closet and pulled on some pajamas. When I walked out, Sam's pants and shirt were on the floor, him snuggled in my blanket.
His eyes were on the tv screen and his hair was a cute curly mess on his head. He truly was beautiful. I continued to look at him, his soft rosy cheeks, his lips, his eyes.
"Are you coming to bed or are you just gonna stand there?" Sam giggled slightly as I got flustered and crawled onto the bed, getting under the covers with him. His hand automatically went to my waist and he pulled me closer. My head was on his chest, his chin on the top of my head, legs intertwined and arms holding each other tight.
"Ya'know, I never got my kiss."
I looked up at Sam and thought for a second, then carefully placed a gentle kiss on the corner of his mouth, closer to his cheek.
I could hear him sigh, and mumble slightly, "You'll be the death of me."
He pulled me closer and his body warmth was the safety I needed. His arms felt like home.
It was then I realized, this all I need. All I want.
Even though we always argue, we always fight and we can never get along, Sam is what I want.
He's everything I want, and everything I need.

When I woke up, that safety and warmth was gone. I didn't wake up entangled in Sam's arms, his light snoring in my ear. The bed was cold, and the house didn't feel like home anymore.
I got out of bed sluggishly and walked my way down to the kitchen. With his back facing me, Sam was shuffling with some bags.
"Sam?" I asked cautiously. He turned his head over his shoulder and smiled and little. Sam grabbed the bag and placed it in front of the stool that I had sat on. I smiled as I saw the McDonald's bag.
"Uh, I'm not a very good cook so I thought I just bring you some food. I wasn't uh- I wasn't sure what you liked so if it's not what you wan-"
"Sam." I interjected. He looked at me nervously.
"This is perfect, thank you." I wrapped my arms around his neck and he stood between my legs, his hands around my waist. And that protected, homey feeling came back, and I knew I was in way too deep.
