"Hey, watch it!" I yelled at a balding old man walking on the side walk.
He scowled at me as I rode past him on my long board and I flipped him the bird. He looked shocked but quickly became angry as I threw my head back and laughed loudly.
I continued down the busy New York sidewalk, everyone giving me dirty looks as I passed by them. I swerved out of the way of some oncoming pedestrians and turned the corner for my penthouse complex.
I kicked up my skateboard and held it against my hip as I walked into the lobby and towards the elevators. I pressed the button continuously, getting inpatient.
Finally the doors opened and I rushed in, pushing the top floor. I looked in the reflection of the elevator wall. Long, blonde, wavy hair. Bright green eyes. Pale complexion. My cheeks and nose flush pink from the cold weather.
The elevator doors open and I walked out, walking to the door of my parents penthouse. I unlocked the door, only to find most of the living room gone. My first instinct told me there was a robbery. I quickly pulled out my pocket knife from the waistband of my pants and opened it, walking slowly towards the kitchen where the noise was currently coming from.
What? Don't judge me, I live in New York, always need to be prepared.
As I inched closer, I heard voices. Voices that sounded a lot like my mom and dad. I peeked around the corner and sighed in relief when I saw them calmly talking at the island.
I slipped knife back into my waistband and walked casually into the kitchen.
"Anyone care to explain why half our living room is gone?" I exclaimed.
My parent both shared uneasy looks before nervously looking at me.
"Riley, honey we need to tell you something." my mother said, trying to be calm.
" Okay, what is it?" I said bluntly.
"Well um, well erm um ... " My mom stuttered.
"We're moving!" My dad suddenly exclaimed loudly.
