I walked out of Rhosyn's bedroom and turned to walk down the hall.

"Sairos!"

I turned to see Enida at the end of the hallway. With bare feet, she came running towards me with Knight Aylward right on her heels. His presence behind Enida made my heart sink, and I wished for nothing more than to take away her fear.

Her silver nightgown fell to her knees and her long brown hair sat in a bun on top of her head. Her brown eyes looked heavy and red, but dry for the second time in a week.

"Why have you been ignoring me, big brother?" she asked.

A small smile tugged my lips. "It was never my intention, baby sister."

She sighed impatiently. "Well, you've certainly been avoiding me."

I stared into her eyes, wondering if my thoughts would break her, or if she needed to hear them. I turned to Aylward. "I can walk her to Indigo's room if you would like to retire for the evening."

He looked to Enida, who dismissed him with a nod and a kind smile. He bowed his head and walked away, saying "I'll be outside Princess Indigo's door when you wake up, Your Highness." I began walking towards Indigo's room with Enida in tow, deep in thought. "Enida, I've been afraid that you blame me for his death."

"Why on Paracosia would I blame you for that?"

"I certainly blame myself. I believe the person came with the intent to kill me, not Arlo. Had I not needed to go to Troria so suddenly, I would've been the one to die."

I heard a huff. "Sairos, it's not your fault. It's my fault for not going with him to your room."

We reached Indigo's door, but neither of us moved to knock.

I sighed. "If you tell me not to blame myself, you shouldn't blame yourself either." I pulled her into a hug. She opened Indigo's door and walked in with a parting "Dhien lailan".
