Moments prior, the House of Chustick died. Princess Victana and I stood in the woods outside Haedleigh's capital city watching the glow of the fires.

"You've been following us," I said.

I didn't have to look at her to know she smirked. "What gave it away?"

"Did you really have to kill the phonx back in Nover?" I asked her, still watching the lights at the edge of the woods.

Her arms crossed. "Yes, I did. I needed your sister to receive the message."

Rolling my eyes, I asked, "What message would that be?"

She stepped in front of me with squinted eyes. "My Father wants Broasau. He wants to crush their armies. Screw anything up, and her precious little book goes up in flames." I looked to the side, but she snapped her hand up to my cheek and tugged it back, forcing me to meet her eyes again. "Make one mistake, and you lose the honor of being my king when Father dies."

"Are you threatening me?"

"Do I need to?"

I exhaled slowly, taking my time to formulate the answer correctly. "I have not given you or King Ronam any reason to threaten me."

Her eyebrows scrunched, considering me. "Make sure it stays that way."
