"A few nights ago, Melai hugged me," I told Arlo and Lily.
Melai reappeared with Evan right in front of me. I looked through the windows to see the once crowded and lively House of Bray, not so lively anymore.

We left the next morning for the Uskyaean coast. I couldn't believe we'd be back to Broasau earlier than expected. The spring equinox was soon approaching, ringing in the new year, and I enjoyed seeing the decorations go up around the castle.
It took us a day and a half to reach the coast, and when we did, we flew over the sea in search of the dockmaster. We spent hours flying up and down the coastline, but no sign of the dockmaster. Surely Lily would have told Father, and surely Father would have told the dockmaster.
"Prince Kano!" Evan called from his phonx. "He's not coming!"
"You don't know that! He should be here any moment!"
Melai returned to the coast to bring us food. We each took turns letting our phonxes rest throughout the day while the other two flew in search of the dockmaster.
When the sun set and the sky grew dark, it became apparent the dockmaster was not coming. We made camp right there on the coast.

Four days later, exactly thirty days since we arrived in Uskyae, the dockmaster finally arrived.
I flew ahead of the other two, determined to set something straight.
"So either my Father never told you, or you decided to ignore his orders," I said to him when Zale landed on the trigon's back.
"What do you mean, Your Highness?" he asked, clearly oblivious to what I alluded to.
"My Father never told you to come early?" I asked.
Lily? You told Father to send the dockmaster early, right?
She never responded.
The five hour ride back to Broasau were the longest hours of my life. I paced the trigon's back thinking of all possible motives for not telling Father. What would I say to her when I saw her? Why would she betray me like this?
The Broasan islands finally appeared along the horizon, and despite knowing the confrontation with Lily drew near, I smiled at the sight of home.
