Darkness.

The feeling of nothing, mindlessly going from one task to another.

Milena had felt this feeling so much in her life to the point where it was almost comforting. Milena felt light as if she was floating in water. It almost gave her a sense of calm and relief, a feeling that was usually so rarely obtained.

But why was she feeling like this?

It was as if a switch had been flipped. Milena's confusion and fear took over her sense of peace. Her body stiff and cold as if she was back in that horrible lab. Cold needles piercing her body wherever they could reach.

Milena couldn't breathe, she could feel her power being used but she didn't know what for, she wasn't even trying to use it. When she couldn't even muster the strength to open her eyes, the fear grew even more. Where was she? Where was Thor? Milena felt herself panic but her freezing body wouldn't allow her to move.

Screams of terror echoed in Milena's mind. Thanos, Loki, the explosion.

Move Milena begged in her mind You have to live.

The feeling of nothingness and quiet tried to take over ruthlessly. Milena knew that if she let it, she would die.

Milena struggled in her own mind, desperately trying to keep her mind from falling to where it could not return.

Tired. I'm so tired.

Despite her efforts, Milena could feel herself succumbing to the darkness.

Then, a gentle hand grabbed at her floating figure.

——— Space, 10 minutes earlier ———

A ship cruised smoothly through the cosmos. Rubber band man by The Spinners echoed through the cabin, where six friends sat, each in their respective spots.

The captain of the ship, grooved to the music playing "Sing it Drax!" He called to the large, shirtless, grey man with the red tattoos. He made no move to sing along however, he was fast asleep where he sat.

Beside him sat a green skin woman who lip synched smoothly to the music. Above her, an intelligent raccoon yawned.

"Why are we doing this again?" Rocket groaned.

"It's a distress signal Rocket. Someone could be dying." Gamora scolded.

"I get that, but why are we doing it?"

Peter chimed in "'Cause we're nice." he smirked "and maybe whoever it is will give up a little cheddar cheese for our effort."

"Which isn't the point." Gamora interrupted, pointing a finger at Peter.

He pointed back "Which isn't the point. I mean, if he doesn't pony up..."

"We take his ship." A now awake Drax asserted.

"Exactly!" "Bingo!" Rocket and Peter exclaimed at the same time.

Gamora looked up at Peter and gave him a disapproving glare. He shook his head at her reassuring her that they would not in fact take the ship. She scoffed and turned forward.

"We are arriving." Mantis stated from her spot in the back, looking down at the navigation display in front of her.

"All right Guardians don't forget this might be dangerous so let's put in our mean faces." Peter ordered. Behind him, Mantis silently bared her teeth.
