𝐈𝐍 𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐌𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅, 𝐋𝐄𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐘. At first, he was alone, using the free space to practice a few moves with his bow staff. He twirled it, jabbed it, sliced it down. He moved delicately and swiftly up and down the balcony. Anything to distract himself from what was happening inside the loft.

He twirled the bow staff around his head, spinning in a circle as he did. He swung it out in front of him as he came around and then he stopped.

Millimeters away from Orion's face.

Leon huffed and stood up straight, bringing the staff to his side. "You shouldn't sneak up on someone like that," he grunted.

"Leon, are you alright? I can feel you struggling to stay in control," Orion inquired worriedly.

Leon just sighed and started practicing again, trying to ignore the question from Orion.

He swung and sliced through the air, but in a flash, faster than any Shadowhunter, Orion was standing in front of Leon and he grabbed the staff. Leon grunted, giving a yank. But Orion was also stronger than any Shadowhunter.

"Let go," Leon huffed.

"You are seconds away from bursting into flames," Orion warned him.

Leon glared, finally managing to snatch his staff away from Orion. "Why do you think I'm out here?!" he asked him angrily.

"I can't help you or teach you if you don't talk to me," Orion told him.

"What do you want me to say, Orion?" he snapped. "The man I love his risking his life...again." He felt all the breathe leave his chest, his stomach tightening. "I...I can't breathe because this is the biggest risk he's ever taken to save his parabatai. He's already almost died once before — "

Leon dropped his staff, groaning as he wrapped his arms around himself. His insides started burning, feeling as though they were melting away right inside of him.

He crumbled to his knees and Orion quickly fell in front of him.

"Leon." Orion's voice sounded far away but Leon still looked up on him. "I know it's hard right now but you have to focus. Focus on Alec." Leon gritted his teeth to hold back a scream of pain. "Don't think of the negatives. Focus on him, on your love for each other."
