Chapter 08-A Stranger

Someone was peeking over the window...And it was so obvious that this person was a lady since she had a couple of hair strands hanging down.She looked exactly like my mom...Could she be...no way,she left me in this living pit years ago.She was walking towards me,I didn't even see her jumping over the window,but it was getting clear,that this lady was...MY MOM.

"Mom...is this really you?"

"Yeah Ashey,it's me.Awwww my baby has grown a lot.Look how pretty you've become."

"Why did you leave me in this hell alone?You could have take me with you to wherever you're going mom..."

"Don't worry Ash,you'll be able to go away from them soon,really soon.You'll find someone who can keep you happy through your entire life.I'm sorry baby,please forgive your mom for leaving you with all these..."

Some liquid was starting to pour down on her cheecks,she was crying.At the same time,she started fading away,little by little,and before completely leaving me alone again,she muttered,"I love you baby,stay strong."

"No mom,you can't leave me again.Take me with you...Please mom,I beg you...I don't want to live without you"

I was being shaken by my shoulders.I tried to get away from the grip,but that person was holding me so tightly making me feel helpless and give up.Little by little,the surrounding was getting clear,and then only I saw Mary looking at me,with a worried look.Mom was no where around to be seen.

"Mary,was mom here just a while ago?"

She was just nodding her head,making me realise that it was all a dream.

"I saw her Mary.I didn't have any dreams since her death,but she appeared in my sleep today,for the first time after so long.And just like back then,she just left me here.I asked her to take me with her,but she just faded away.I miss her Mary,I miss mom."

She took me closer to her and patted my head,slowly moving her hand up and down through my hair.I felt the warmth in her arms.I always loved her hugs,she was the only one who showed affection to me under this roof.

After following my morning routine,I was just looking at the mirror staring at my reflection while trying to understand what my mom meant when she said,

Don't worry Ash,you'll be able to go away from them soon,really soon.You'll find someone who can keep you happy through your entire life...

Will I ever be able to find such a person...Even if I did,they will disappear once they hear my real mother.My life is such a pathetic one,it's just a drama,where I have to act according to how I'm asked.And even today I'll have to pretend well,just to make sure that no one's suspicious about me being their daughter.

I came out with my bath robe covering my body.Ms.Danilka was already there with her equipments ready to dress me up.The frock I selected yesterday was hanging at a side of the mirror.I sat infront of her,giving her space to do the hair style,make-up and other stuff.Finally,I was done from head to toe and just by then,there came the person I despiced the most,step-mom,she was also wearing a blue fancy dress which was too much I thought,anyways they always prefer complex stuff.

Downstairs were quite crowded with many people who were mostly in suites and fancy dresses.The whole living room was well decorated.Dad and step-mom were talking with some other guests,who were probably some other business partners.I saw my gang of friends gathered around a table together.They all were well-dressed and as expected,Olivia,our fashion queen was dressed up with the dress she bought few days back.

I knew I had to go where my dad and step-mom was talking before going to my friends so I started going downstairs.I felt someone hitting my shoulder and just then,when I was about to fell,I felt a hand around my waist,holding me without letting me hug the floor.Whoever it was,I was praising him in my mind for saving me from all the embarassment and trouble which were bound to happen soon after this event ended if I fell.With all these in my mind,I looked at the one who was holding me.For a moment,I was startled,those dark brown eyes were staring at me with a worried look in his eyes.I was about to get sunk in his gaze when he cleared his throat,taking me back to reality.I hurried back to settle my feet on the ground before making another mistake.Luckily,no one seemed to have caught me falling on this unknown yet marvellous boy infront of me.

??????:Are you okay?Sorry,I didn't expect that I'd hit you,I'm really sorry.

His voice...it was the first time hearing it,but still it felt so calm and peaceful.What was I even feeling?This is the first time I felt this way about someone and that even had to be a stranger whome I completely didn't know...

??????:Excuse me,are you okay?Did you get hurt?I'm really sorry that wasn't intentional...

Ashley:No,I'm completely fine,also thank you for holding me.Else I would have kissed the floor.

I said with a light smile on my face.He just chuckled,did I just say something funny?I hope I didn't say anything terrible.Else,I'll be sued.But he was cute when he was smiling...Gosh Ashley,what exactly is wrong with you...Why are you trying to be so nice with someone who you don't even know the name of...Just then,my so called step-mom appeared out of no where and I was praying that I won't get hit infront of this huge crowd,specially infront of him, just for not being able to balance myself while walking down the stairs...
