As the clear dawn broke, Crist awoke and stood on the balcony, taking in the morning view. Memories of her mornings in Dubai with her parents flooded her mind.
Her father had never taken a bite without her by his side. Now, she had to rely on their memories and find strength within herself. She knew she had the support of everyone around her.
Choosing an outfit from her closet, she freshened up and slipped into a baby pink oversized shirt with matching pants. With her hair neatly combed into a ponytail, she added a scarf around her neck.
As she descended the stairs, unfamiliar voices reached her from the dining area, causing her nerves to stir. The thought of encountering new people made her anxious.
Suddenly, a strong hand touched her back, and to her surprise, it belonged to Jahan. Why does he always appear out of nowhere? she wondered.
"Are you okay?" he asked, seeing her in the middle of her thoughts.
"Are we expecting guests?" she replied in a hushed tone. If he hadn't been standing so close, he probably wouldn't have heard her.
"I told you about our cousins; they're here, along with our aunt. Don't worry, come with me," he assured her, having been informed of their arrival.
It had been a long time since Jahan Haider Shah had been present at home. This time, he was there to introduce Alizey and guide their relatives in taking care of her. Normally, he left before sunrise and returned home after weeks due to his duties, often residing in his penthouse.
Together, they entered the dining area and greeted everyone with a warm "Salam." Alizey met her aunt, Aleena Shah, and the two of them couldn't hold back their tears, while the rest of the family also shed tears, remembering Rehman Shah and Hamna Shah.
A few years ago, Aleena Shah's husband had passed away from a heart attack. She split her time between her in-laws and her parents' home. Her elder son worked with Jahan, while the younger one focused on his studies and his late father's business.
Hameeda Begum, their grandmother, introduced Alizey to Jahan's cousins, Hooriya and Faiqa, who were 24 and 22 years old, respectively.
After breakfast, Jahan instructed the girls to show Alizey around their respective departments, while the boys were tasked with assisting her in the admission procedure.
Meanwhile, the elders observed everything, aware of Jahan's caring nature and his ability to fulfill everyone's needs silently, with few words. They all prayed for the well-being of the children, especially Jahan.
Alizey spent her day familiarizing herself with the university, which was quite different from Dubai. However, she knew she had to adapt. As the Shah family held a position of influence there, she gained admission without any complications, aided by Jahan's personal recommendation. Her excellent grades also worked in her favor.
She easily mingled with both the girls and the guys, enjoying their company. The group of four playfully teased each other, eliciting laughter from Alizey. They had lunch at a restaurant and returned home.
Later, she took a nap and had tea with the family, except for Jahan, who was still not home. At dinner, Jahan's aunt joined them.
Alizey eagerly waited for Jahan to return so she could express her gratitude and share her university experiences with him. However, she was unaware of his elusive nature. Eventually, she fell asleep, hoping to see him the next day.
