After seeing Bucky, the next few days went by in a blur. Mostly because of the way he had made me feel in that cell, with his hands all over me, and because of the blue stuff I'd had one too many drinks of. I had made it through each meeting since then on auto pilot. Luckily, Annali knew what I was looking for and how to edge me along in meetings that I have trouble focusing in. By the end of today I was drunk and exhausted.
I let my head flop back against the back of the couch as I sat beside Annali. Her fingers typing furiously on her laptop. My eyes closed for a moment as the two of us just sat in comfortable silence while she worked. I could feel the familiar dreamy feeling coming the blue liquor as my head laid still against the couch.
Annali's phone rang, the ringtone giving me a piercing headache. I brought my hands to my ears, the glass resting against my temple as I tried to cover them.
"Sorry Heiress," Annali apologized answering the phone. I shook my head and let out a sigh of relief when she answered the phone. Letting my eyes close again, I tried to relax.
The relief was short lived when I felt Annali's body turn towards me.
"Heiress, the Power Broker is demanding to meet with you," She explained her voice sounding stressed. I scoffed shaking my head again, my eyes still closed.
"Tell her to 'fuck off,' " I giggled to myself.
"She says it's urgent Heiress," Annali's voice sound strained and I peeked out of one eye to see Annali's worried expression. I let out an aggravated sigh.
"Fine. Send her in," I rolled my eyes slowly sitting up from my relaxed position. I scooted to the end of the couch before pushing off and standing up. Annali put her arm out for me as I stumbled when I first got up.
As Annali was saying it was okay to send Sharon in, the Power Broker herself burst through the door. I stumbled my way to my desk, grasping to the edge of it while I slammed my glass down on the table.
"What do you want now, Power Broker?" I mocked her title, my back still turned to her as I finished off the glass.
"Do you not trust me?" she questioned and my features pinched together in confusion as I turned looking across the room at her.
"Of course not," I laughed leaning against my desk, "That's the first thing you taught me when I got into this business."
Sharon scoffed, tucking her tongue in her cheek as she crossed her arms over her chest. Annali stood up walking over to my liquor cabinet and pouring me another glass. She stood off to the side behind my desk and me.
"I thought we were friends Hells," Sharon sighed, a mock pout on her lips.
"If that's what you'd like to call it," I laughed as I pressed the palms of my hands into my desk, willing the wood to steady me.
"Friends don't lie to each other," she said a stern look swept across her face.
"Really," I giggled again.
"You told me, you would be the one to kill Bucky Barnes," her words came out slow and I felt myself gripping onto my desk, trying to steady myself.
"My sources tell me, he's still alive," Sharon's words come out slow and threatening as she traces a finger along the back of one of the couches.
"He's in this house," Sharon took long, slow strides toward me. My blood boiling hotter with her every step.
"And?" I questioned taking my hands from the edge of the desk before reaching for the drink Annali poured me.
