{Chapter Twenty Seven - Oh, Baby}

~ But I need to understand,
When I can power through,
And when I need some help from you,
When I should stand my ground,
And when I need to just sit down,
Sometimes I act like I know,
But I'm really just a kid,
With two corks in his eyes,
And a bully in his head ~

- Juliet

Elora had been folding clothes in the baby's nursery, when she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her belly.

"Ow." She murmured to herself, as the pain rippled through her. Thinking nothing of it, she continued folding.

Ten minutes later it happened again, but this time it was worse. Then, she realised what it was.

"Michael!" Elora yelled at the top of her lungs. Their new home was so massive she couldn't be sure he heard her.

Soon enough, Michael entered the room, panic in his eyes. "What? Is it the baby?"

"Yeah, I-I think I'm going into labor." Elora breathed quickly, placing one hand on the crib for support. The contraction passed, and she could breathe properly again.

"Oh, uh-" Michael glanced around, stressing out. "Where's Nova? A-and Natasha?" Natasha was an older woman who had given birth multiple times, and knew her way around a pregnant woman's body. Between her and Nova, Elora was in good hands.

Madison rushed into the room next, alert and ready. "Is the baby coming?" Elora nodded, standing up straight again. Michael didn't know what to do, but just stared between the two. "Fucking useless." Madison sighed, and grabbed Elora's arm, helping her out of the room.

"Michael, go get Nova and Natasha." Madison barked her order.

"No, I'm not leaving her. You get them, we're going to the infirmary." Michael snapped, as if coming to his senses.

"Okay. Time her contractions, everyone knows you're supposed to do that." Madison transmuted away. Michael helped Elora down the long hallway.

"Why does this place have to be so fucking big?" Elora groaned, slapping away Michael's helping hand.

"We're nearly there, it's okay." Michael soothed as Elora set off again, breathing heavily.

Nova and Natasha were already there as they arrived, all prepped and ready to help. Madison was also there, but she probably less to help and more to observe. Michael helped Elora onto the hospital bed, stroking her forehead once she had settled down.

More people entered the room, Noah, Emily, Timothy, and others who wanted to make sure she was okay.

"Alright, if you aren't needed here please leave the room." Natasha called to the small crowd, who slowly left one by one. Another contraction hit Elora, and she doubled over in pain. It felt like her uterus was tightening.

"7 minutes." Michael said to Natasha, who nodded.

"You still got a while, honey." Natasha directed at Elora.
