I ran before my brain could even register what had happened and what I was doing. Usually people tend to go away from the sound of gunshots but I found myself heading in its direction. I wasn't prepared for what laid ahead though and I don't think I'll ever be ready to see Logan on the ground, in a pool of his own blood. Dying.
No. No. No.
I rushed to his side, his blood made the floor slippery causing me to fall on my knees and dropping the gun he had given me. Even in my nightmares the pain of loosing of him wasn't as excruciating as this.
Flipping his body onto his back, I fumbled with the buttons of his dress shirt. It was harder task to perform with my fingers shaking and the fabric being drenched in his blood. When I did manage to undo them all, a painful sob escaped my throat. Bullet holes covered his front, each one of them spluttering deep crimson fluid with every pump of his heart.
"There you are" Strong arms snaked around my waist. Lifting me off the ground and away from Logan's body.
"No, let me go!" I screamed, thrashing in Constance's death grip. From what I saw Logan had beat him good yet his hold on me so firm I couldn't escape.
"Nope, can't do. You're coming with me" He groaned.
"You're a fucking monster! He's your brother, he's going to die" My throat burned from the way I was shouting but I couldn't care less. My focus was on the man I loved and he was going to die if he didn't get help.
"It's his fault, being controlled by a piece of pussy. He's too weak to command the McKenzie kingdom"Constance had managed to drag me all the way to the door and I knew if I didn't do something now, he was going to die on that floor.
A familiar ache I had first felt at the age of nine when I had learned of my mother passing away, filled my heart.
"Please, you can take me, do whatever you want. Kill me but let me help him. He needs medical care or he won't make it. I beg of you!" I kept thrashing in his hold, looking for that one moment of hesitation so I could push out of his hold. But he was unrelenting.
We were out of the house now. He was about to toss me inside the back of his SUV when I heard the gunshot. Constance's grip finally gave in as he fell to the ground. I looked around spotting Seth in the driveway with his gun pointing in our direction. I didn't bother to check on Constance as I ran back inside, Seth yelled behind me but it was muted over the thundering pulse in my ears. I put my head on chest, his heart beat was faint and slow.
"He doesn't have much time, we have to get him to a hospital" I wiped my tears, we needed to act fast. Logan was a big man to be carried out by Seth alone, but we somehow managed to get him in the back of Constance's car. Seth shrugged out of his coat, passing it back to me as he took to the wheels.
I pushed the clothing over his front, trying to apply pressure on his wounds but there were just so many of them. Logan's phone buzzed in his pants and I pulled it to my ears. "Elon. He's dying, I'm gonna loose him" I cried profusely, my body shaking.
"Shit! Where's Constance?" Elon growled over the phone.
"At the mansion, Seth shot him. We're taking Logan to a hospital but he's not conscious" I was squeezed in the leg room in between the back seats, trying to wake Logan up. I prayed for him to give me some sort of sign, to assure me I wasn't about to loose him.
"Listen to me Elle, you can't take him to a hospital. My father rules over all of them, they're either not going to treat him or they'll hand him over to their boss. Do you know anyone who could help us?" His voice was on the edge and I could tell he was trying hard not to get his emotions in the way. I couldn't do the same, not when it was concerned with the man I loved. With my panic urging my brain to act fast, I could only think of one person who would help us without anyone suspecting.
