Tell me a year ago that I would drop everything, even forget about my very own family just so I could see a woman's face and I would laugh at you. Then I'd probably put a bullet through your head.

But not anymore and I can say that because I'm standing outside her condo building. The drive to Elle's apartment is shorter than I had expected and as I'm making my way through the elevator, I figure I'm too early. I'm torn between knocking on the door and turning around to make a stop to my house. Seth nods at me assuringly, helping me make the decision as he curtly rings the bell.

Elle opens the door dressed in blue jeans and a cropped white t-shirt, which being a bad choice to wear while cooking, she's topped off with a red apron. With her hair tied back and her big green eyes staring right back at me, she parts her luscious, pink lips, "Hey, you made it"

My immediate instinct is to reach out and claim that tantalizing mouth but I keep myself in check. "I said I would, did you think otherwise?" I ask, standing impatiently at her doorstep.

Jeez, get a grip of yourself!

"I did invite you last minute" She takes a step away, allowing me in. I hand her the wine bottle I had picked up on my way and she takes it over to the kitchen island. Every movement her body makes is like candy for my eyes, her tiny frame reaching for the top shelf to grab wine glasses.

"I'm coming whenever you call" She's like a fucking magnet, my gaze can't escape. Despite the potent spell she has cast on me, I drag myself away. Looking over the living room, I notice the lack of character. Pictures of her with her mom, and a series of her brother's first days at school, those missing pieces that she had at her gathered at her previous place. My gut told me it's because she was scared that someone might come looking around and find their way to the most crucial aspect of her life.

A door on my left opens and the Center of Elle's whole damn world strides in my direction. Standing taller than his sister, his features were nothing like hers and if I were to meet him in the outside world I couldn't even tell they were related.

"Hi you must be Logan, nice to meet you" He reaches out to shake my hand and I oblige.

In a split second Elle is next to us as she makes an attempt to whisper-scold her sibling. "I thought I told you no closing the doors" It's only then do I notice the girl standing behind Victor.

"And this is Sydney, Victor's girlfriend"

I almost laughed out on how protective she was with him. Being in a family where my parents hardly cared about me fucking around with girls, I could not relate to her situation. Not one bit. I overlook my upbringing and wrap an arm around her waist, my fingers tingling with the contact of her skin.

She shuts the quiet argument she's loosing to her brother and looks up at me. It only takes her a second to compose herself as she passes me one of the two wine glasses in her hand. "Why can't we have the same?" Victor interrogates, reminding me of how Constance would ask for every darn thing I touched. No wonder he's after the business that definitely belongs to me.

"Because you're not an adult —"

"I don't see any harm in them having a glass" I push mine towards his girlfriend and her eyes sparkle, it's not because I just let them have alcohol.

The glare I receive from the woman beside me should've stopped me or at least made me have second thoughts but it didn't.

"Let's eat!"

Before I could walk behind the two of them, Elle grabs my elbow. "I know what you're trying to do" The words escaping her mouth are an angry whisper.
