Note to self:
DO NOT LISTEN TO ELON, EVER!

I file that reminder to the billion other things I had going on as I look around the table. Elijah Salsor fixes his tie, realizing how much money he just lost to me. I don't know how the fuck did I turn from not coming to this party at all, to actually agreeing and now Elon's convinced me to play a round of poker with our business allies.

What I really wanted to do was to go out there, find if she's actually here. I never really thought he could manage to make her come and then this morning he waltzed into my office, claiming my wife will indeed be attending my birthday party.

That's it!

That's how I ended up being here, because I just can't help myself with her. The fact that I haven't seen her in seven months added to my desperateness. I'm about to call it for the evening and begin my hunt for my little prey when the doors open and a woman stands at the other end. Not even daring to step inside.

It had to be her, for I know our guards wouldn't let anyone else to barge in like that. The second our eyes meet, it's confirmed. I could recognize those bright green eyes anywhere in this world.

"Sorry for interrupting" She obviously didn't recognize me. We all watched her stumble out the room with the same speed as she entered.

"I told you she'd come" Elon whispers beside me. I had honestly underestimated my brother but I'll make use of some other time to apologize for that. Her appearance encouraged me further to leave this room and I push my chair back.

"Looks like we're going to have to continue this some other day" I button up my blazer, already making my way to the door.

Once in the ballroom, it's not that hard to spot her, for she's the only one in this whole place who is sitting around alone. And that dress she's wearing, it fits her damn perfectly. What was she planning on doing? Give every man in here a nosebleed? I take a moment, studying her from far as she downs shot after shot, sure enough she has gained interest of some guy as turns up beside her.

Words are exchanged and I don't miss the look of disregard her body gives away. My fists clench at my sides as she hops of the bar stool, preparing for an escape maybe. But he stops her and she laughs at whatever remark he makes. That's about as much I can take and I make my way to the bar, ready to take what's mine.

"Mrs McKenzie, looking ravishing as ever" Within seconds I'm behind her, my gaze stuck on the man who's probably trying to steal her away. Like I'm going to let that happen.

"My apologies but I need to have a word with my wife" I wrap my an around her waist, pulling her close to me. I can almost feel her wide eyes staring up at me as I guide her away from the crowd and for a minute I just allow myself to feel her soft, warm skin.

"Tell me what to do here, teach you a lesson for wearing this dress or kill every man that passes a second glance towards you?" I chuckle, my thumb tracing tiny circles on her arm. The red and gold rhinestones up at the slit of her thigh shine with the lights beaming on them, catching my attention.

"You're the one to talk with your arm candy" Her wild eyes glare at me and I frown, taking off the stupid mask from my face.

"Arm candy? I have no idea what you're talking about" I speak truthfully. Never once did I think when we'd meet after so many months, it would be with her being pissed at me. But the fact that she has made no attempt to pull away from my grasp, tells me I'm still in the safe zone.

"Seriously?" She mocks. When I look back at her cluelessly, she adds, "The blonde who had her hand on your shoulder at the poker table"

I laugh out, a hearty chuckle that I haven't permitted myself for one second since she's been gone.
