Every cell in my body wanted to stay back at the mansion and it's not for the deliciously addictive sex he was feeding me. No. I wanted to stand by his side the minute I saw the turmoil in his eyes.
Logan McKenzie hardly ever let his emotions come to surface, especially in front of people. His mother included. He wasn't expecting her to stop by but it wouldn't be the first time she pulled that act. So why was he so bothered by her presence?
I wanted to stay and find out the answer to that question. Had I not received that call from Seth when I had just woken up, I was seriously contemplating on being in bed with him. I missed him, all of him. Even the obsessively controlling part that managed to arrange everything from a toothbrush to freaking handbag so I wouldn't have to go home and get ready.
As the black Range Rover pulls up in front of Lively headquarters, I thank the driver. Seth pulls open the door for me, his usually goofy persona set in hard lines.
"Where are they?" I ask, stepping out.
"It's just one guy and he's in the lobby" He replies. He walks beside me protectively and I tell myself whatever this is I will get through it. Then I will call my husband, ask him about his troubles and hopefully help him fix it.
The second we enter the building, all eyes are on me. The pressure of their gaze boring holes in my body but I couldn't let that distract me. I push my focus towards the man seated on the dark tan leather couch, reading a magazine.
"He's been sitting there for almost an hour now" Seth whispers in my ears as I stand there watching him. My gaze must've been like a freaking magnet because he looks up instantly. His eyes make contact with mine and a smile flashes on his face.
I take measured steps in his direction while he tosses the magazine back to the coffee table and stands up. He draws a hand through his short, buzzed hair that hardly needed any fixing.
"I was right. You are worth the wait. Wyatt Salzar, nice to meet you" He extends his hand, the devilish grin on his lips never fading away. His eyes are clear blue and he looks at me like he knows how nervous I am in this moment.
"Elle McKenzie, if you don't mind can we take this upstairs?" I give him one of my firmest handshakes. I won't get wavered by him.
"I'd love to" His response is quick and I wonder if there is some second meaning behind his words. He allows me to lead the way to the elevators and all the while I could feel him staring behind me. If I were out by myself with this man, I'd be worried but I have Seth with me and I have no doubt he'd protect me.
With my safety in the hands of my bodyguard, we enter the cube that lifts us up to the top floor. We're only a couple of inches inside my office when he points, "If it's okay, I'd like to have a word in private"
My lips form a tight line. I don't know what exactly this man wants but I can tell for sure it's not something I'm going to like. Seth looks at me cautiously, he's ready to fight him off right here, should I give him a sign.
"Don't worry, I'm just here for a conversation. I wouldn't be here alone if my plan was to harm you" He's right. Only someone stupid would come here alone and hope to make it out alive if he kills me.
Unless the people outside my office are in on his game.
Why am I thinking he's here to kill me?
I nod at Seth and Wyatt doesn't miss a heartbeat to shut the door in his face. The air inside turns thick and heavy the second he turns to face me. His eyes never leave my face and it's making my heart race.
Get a grip, Elle.
I stride towards my desk confidently, reminding myself that I'm in charge of this company and whoever this man is, he can't make me stutter. I gesture him towards the chair in front of me and he undos the last button of his Armani suit as we sit down in unison.
