Nini was sitting at her desk,a concentrated look on her face as she was trying to finish her assignment for English,when something hit her window making loud noise.She furrowed her brows,confused,but decided it was probably the wind.When the same sound was heard she stood up and went towards her window opening it to find Ricky at her yard waiting for her.She rolled her eyes at the sight of him.
''What are you doing here?'' she asked annoyed aa she opened the window.
''I want to talk to you.'' he replied.
''And you couldn't knock the door like normal person?'' she exclaimed.
''Well you wouldn't have answered,would you?''
She sighed,knowing he was right.''I've made it clear that I don't want to talk to you.''she said and almost closed the window before he spoke again.
''Nini,please let me explain,I want to apologise.''he pleaded with her.
''This feels really familiar.''she said,laughing bitterly.
''I know,but I just need two minutes to explain,please,and if after that you don't forgive me I promise I won't bother you anymore.'' he said with pleading eyes.
Nini stayed silent for a moment,Kourtney's words coming to mind. Can you really imagine Ricky completely out of your life? And the answer was the same as always,she could never imagine something like that.So maybe Kourtney was right,it was time to let him explain.Besides,hearing him out wouldn't hurt,right? Eventually she gave in.
''Fine,you have two minutes,no more than that.'' he quickly nodded. ''Yes,yes,thank you.''
She quickly went down the stairs and opened the door to find Ricky with a nervous look on his face.
''Okay,your two minutes began.Explain.''
''Right,I'm so sorry for not being there Neens,I really am.You have no idea how much I wanted to be there for you,and you must know I would never willingly miss something like this.But-um,Allison called me asking for help and as the idiot I am I went.But I fell asleep some hours before I was supposed to come find you and she never woke me up.Which apparently she did it on purpose.'' he scoffed.
''Why?''she asked.
''Oh.''he scratched the back of his neck.''She was jealous because I was spending too much time with you so she did that.''he said shyly.
''Is that why you broke up with her?'' she wondered.
''Yeah partly,plus she was terrible to me and you were right when you said she manipulated me,it was time to do it.'' he answered honestly,fiddling with his fingers,waiting anxiously for her answer.
''Okay,I get what happened,this still doesn't change the way you acted the last months,Ricky,I felt like I was losing my best friend.'' she said sadly.
''I know,but I promised you I would be better and I meant it,Neens.I really did.And I will prove it to you because you're worth it.''
He thought she was worth it?
She stayed silent for a minute contemplating his words,Ricky taking it as an answer.
He was ready to turn around and leave before she grabbed his hand to stop him.
''I-I just thought you didn't care about me Ricky,about our friendship.''she said,tears threatening to spill.
He quickly shook his head.''No Neens,of course not,you mean so much to me and I know I've been an asshole but you should know that you're so important to me.The most important.''he said.
''I think I can forgive you.'' she said taking him by surprise.Before he could speak she cut him off.''But not fully yet, you need to stay true to your word,Ricky.''she said seriously.''
He nodded and smiled at her.''Can I-can I hug you?''
She hesitated for a second before she nodded.He immediately wrapped his hands around her,holding her close to him and burying his head at the crook of her neck,inhaling her sweet vanilla scent.He finally let a breath of relief,knowing he had her back.''I missed you.''he muttered,pulling her closer.
''I missed you,too.'' she said,rubbing his back,understanding he was hurting as much as she was the past week.
She pulled away from the hug way too fast for his liking but he didn't say anything.
''Does that mean you'll switch seats again at our classes? And eat lunch with us?''
She awkwardly laughed as she remembered all the things she did so she would avoid him.''Yeah,yeah.''
''I could pick you up for school too,if you want.''he said hopefully.
''Oh there's no need for that.I have my license remember?Plus I'm picking up Aiden tomorrow as well,his car has to get fixed.''
He felt uneasy and annoyed at the mention of the boy but brushed it off.
''Oh,okay then.''he muttered.
''But I wouldn't say no to a coffee from that shop I like.'' she said with a small smirk.
He faintly gasped.'' Sal-Robs are you taking advantage of me?''
''Maybe I am,what about it?''she chuckled.
''Fine,I will and because I'm that kind maybe I'll get that sweets you like so much as well.''
''Really putting it all out for me to forgive you,huh?''
''Told you I was serious.'' he said and booped her nose,her scrunching it in response.
''You're so dumb.'' she said and rolled her eyes,causing him to laugh.''Anyway,I have to get back to my assignment,but see you tomorrow?''she asked.
''Yes,see you tomorrow.'' he answered,the smile evident on his face.
She waved at him and closed the door behind her while he happily went back to his home thinking how lucky he felt for giving him another chance.
He was not going to blow it this time.
