Nini drove to Ricky's home after school and saw his car parked in the driveway meaning he was already there.She got out of the car and knocked the door,Mike opening it who gave her a smile.
''Oh hey Nini,come in.'' he said and stepped aside to let her in,her offering him a smile in return.
''What are you doing here?''
''Oh,me and Ricky are studying together today.''
''That's really good to hear,I'm happy you gave him another chance.'' he said,a grin on his face.
''Oh,he told you what happened?'' she asked curiously.
''Eh,he was mopping for a week straight so I kind of pressured him to tell me.'' he answered,causing a small laugh to leave her lips.
''I know he messed up but your friendship is too special to let go of it.'' he said sincerely.
''Yeah I think so too.'' she said softly.
''And just so you know,if he ever does something again,I'm on your side.'' he said and patted her on the shoulder.
She laughed.''And that's exactly why you are the better Bowen,Mike.''
''I know kiddo but don't keep him waiting ,he's upstairs.'' he said.
''Going,going.'' she said and moved up the stairs.She was happy to see her relationship with Ricky's dad was still the same.They always had a close bond,considering him part of her family as well so she was glad to see nothing had changed.
She got upstairs and knocked on Ricky's door.
He opened looking at her curiously.''Why did you even knock?''
''Why wouldn't I knock?''she asked and pushed him aside so she could sit on the bed.
''You always just barge in here.'' he said.
''Well maybe I was trying to be polite.'' she said.
''You? Polite in my house? ''he snickered.
''Shut up.'' she said and threw a pillow on his head.
''Jeez,relax.''he said laughing and held his hands up as a sign of surrender,walking towards his bed so he could sit next to her.
She narrowed her eyes at him.''Let's get started.I'm thirsting for knowledge.'' she teased.
He groaned.''You will never let that go,will you?''
''You can't say shit like that and expect me not to make fun of you.'' she said and loudly laughed causing a smile to take over his face.
And as he heard the sweet sound of her laugh he couldn't help but wonder what the fuzzy feeling on his stomach was.He quickly shook it off.
''Are you done making fun of me now?'' he said with a small pout.
''Hm,for now I am.''she said.
They spent the next three hours studying,with Ricky asking for a break every twenty minutes while Nini was pushing him away and trying to concentrate.
''Neens,come on we've been studying for so long.Let's take a break.''
''Oh my god,fine.'' she said and closed her book.
She laid on her back and closed her eyes for a moment while Ricky was contemplating asking her what he had been wanting to ask since lunch.Eventually,he gave in.
''So''he began.
She hummed,so he could continue.
'' What's up with Aiden?'' he asked.
She sat up looking at him.''What do you mean?''
''I mean you seem very close and you have known him for a month or so.'' he said,trying to come off casual.
She smirked.''Aw,are you jealous?'' she said with a smirk.
He narrowed his eyes at her.''What?No I'm not.'' he said and felt his cheeks getting warmer.
''Sure you aren't.''she snorted.
He gave her a look and she saw how he fiddled with his fingers,a usual tick of his showing he was anxious.
''Don't worry Bowen,no one is taking your place as my best friend,if that's what you're wondering.'' she said softly.
''Good to know.'' he said with a soft smile.That would do for now,he thought.
She contemplated whether she should tell him about her upcoming date,considering this a good opportunity since he brought him up.But she felt that Ricky wasn't exactly too fond of Aiden so she decided she would tell him later on,if things moved forward.Besides only Kourtney knew about it and what was the worst thing that could happen?
A moment of silence passed before Ricky spoke up again.''Wanna watch tv show or something?I got tired of studying.''
''Only if it's a Brooklyn Nine Nine marathon.''she said.
''Read my mind.'' he said as he grabbed his laptop and both of them got settled in the bed.
