Jimin
I curse as my alarm goes off, nearly making me cut my face while shaving. My eyes glare at my reflection and I grumble, feeling nothing less than irritable. Today, I had plans, but of course, they were hijacked.
Not that my original plans would have worked out anyway.
Jungkook has been... distant for a while. He spends most of his time in the library, studying, or out and about, drawing. When he gets home, he smells primarily of himself and he locks himself away in his bedroom. The times he would seldom cook have depleted to microwaving or making something simple for him to eat alone.
I know that this is my fault, but I can't force a conversation he doesn't want to have.
My eyes glance at the countertop before I exhale, clenching my eyes shut.
"Just wear the earrings, Jimin."
Rising, my eyes meet a pair of dark ones in the bathroom mirror, Jungkook standing with his arms crossed over his chest, his white dress shirt mostly unbuttoned as his tie and suit jacket lie draped over his strong shoulders.
I turn around to face the omega dead on, taking in his appearance. "I didn't think you'd come."
He quirks an eyebrow, giving me a simple one-over before settling his bored eyes on mine. "I think we both knew I would. You wouldn't have sent the text otherwise."
"Thank you." I feel a weight fall off my shoulders and Jungkook approaches me, grabs the dangly earrings, and tilts my head to the side.
"Jungkook, I..."
"I know." He puts one of them in my right ear as I stand, caged between him and the bathroom counter. His long fingers work at his own earrings and he takes them out of his left ear and places them in my left. With the remaining earrings from my set, he puts them in his own left ear.
My eyes study his face, picking up the traces of makeup, carefully styled hair pushed out of his face and behind his ear, his newly done undercut making its appearance. Lastly, they land on his ears, the mismatched jewelry mirroring my own ears.
"There's no reason for her to say anything if we match." He exhales and starts to back away, but my hands grip his biceps, keeping him near.
"Jungkook..."
I try to keep my hands from trembling as they move to button up his shirt the rest of the way, fingertips grazing his smooth, hot skin. Then, I work at tying his black tie. Despite my brain telling me not to, I can't help but let my fingers wander to his scent gland, resting there as I look into his eyes, trying to read him.
The brunet's expression is one of stone, but under my gaze, I can't help but notice the subtle shake of his pupils, how they dilate, ever so slightly.
"Stop pretending," I say instead, the burning of my chest too much to properly face at the moment.
Jungkook's gaze soften, his doe eyes back to their natural, gentle state. "What do you mean? Do you... not want me anymore?"
"It's not that. I just want you to stop."
"We have a big dinner with the other CEO candidate, Jimin. I have to be a good omega. Mrs. Green is probably quite the omega. I need to help you. I have to be better than her—"
"Then stop." I grip the end of the tie, wrapping it around my fist. "Be yourself. I'm sick of watching fake Koo vie for my grandmother's approval. Fuck being better than Mrs. Green. You already are better than her in your own ways. She's better in others. That's how people work. Jeon Jungkook already is the perfect omega. You don't have to sit there and take it."
He opens his mouth to speak before his eyes start to tint. "Jimin..."
"Win her over by being you. This is torture for both of us. I hate all the lies. And I hate watching you act small the most. Don't do anything that makes you uncomfortable."
Jungkook's hands slowly fall to my waist. "The relationship itself is a lie. What's a few more?"
And there it is again, that stale scent. I hate it.
I pull him dangerously close, not letting up on the tie. "I've never been good at playing pretend."
His eyes are completely red by now, matching mine. But unlike how he is with other alphas who give him this gaze, he remains tall, his grip on my waist tightening. He looks right into my eyes, forehead-to-forehead.
"Do you still want me to be your first kiss, Park Jimin?" The brunet asks, his voice low.
"I told you to get rid of Namjoon," I say, standing my ground. "You know what that means, right?"
"No, I don't think I do," Jungkook whispers, lips brushing against mine. "Care to enlighten me?"
"It means you don't need him anymore."
Author's Note: Hahaha. Short chapter landing on tension. How do you think this outing will go?
Thoughts on the story thus far?
Make sure to take care and love yourself as best as you can.
With lots of love,
