It seemed like the Tunnels were interestingly described. The three of them went from one area to the next using the tunnels, searching for a way out, because there had to be one.

As they'd been taken there Amira couldn't imagine there not being a way in, although there was a chance it was simply a way in.

Certain parts of Lady Kahina's house were like that, including the rooms they'd used for training, which meant the three siblings could be trapped in there for hours - until someone thought to let them out.

No one was going to let them out of the Tunnels. They'd been put there for a reason and she was determined they were going to find out what that was.

"Why haven't we come across something trying to kill us yet?" Samuel sounded worried, while Amira just felt relieved. "I keep thinking it's going to happens and then it doesn't." He sighed. "I want the first battle over with."

"Be thankful for the time we have. We've had a chance to start getting to know the Tunnels. That's invaluable. In the future we're going to need that information, because things are going to worse in the future. I don't doubt that for a moment."

Samuel nodded. "How are you getting on with that map, Savanna?" She was used the back of the letter their betrayers had left for them to create a basic map, scribbling down notes about what they found in each part. "I know it's not an easy job."

"No, it's not, but it's one of the things I'm good at."

That was true. All of them had difficult strengths and weakness, which meant they worked together well, but Amira couldn't help thinking those weaknesses would be the things that took her siblings away from her. Even though she hope they'd all make it the end safely she couldn't help thinking Samuel was right.

Lady Kanhina and Eugene had put them into the Tunnels to sort the wheat from the chaff. Amira wanted to know to why. Amira wanted to storm up to them and ask the questions she needed answers to, but that wasn't going to happen.

Instead she was going to have to wait until they found their way out... or someone else within the Tunnels to explain things.

Pushing away her thoughts Amira turned her attention to the map Savanna was showing them. It was small, but perfectly formed. Amira knew they'd be able to use it to their advantage in the future.

"Thank you for putting the work into creating that."

"You're welcome, Mira." Their eyes met for the first time since they entered the Tunnels and Amira could see the fear in Savanna's eyes. "It's the least I could do."

"Do you truly believe I'm going to be the only survivor?"

"I'm not certain you want the answer to that, which probably is an answer in itself."
