Finding themselves under attack was an expected surprise. Amira shot arrows at creatures she'd never seen before, trying to give Savanna and Samuel a chance to get closer to them, because they weren't dying.
Fortunately, once a sword took their head off, they turned into dust, leaving her arrows behind.
She did know how to make them - she just didn't know when she was going to get a chance to, so she had to make the most of what she had. Maybe stopping for long enough to make some would be a good idea.
Before shooting again she glanced at the arrow and found it wasn't the type she would be able to poison, which was probably a good thing, although it did mean she would have to stop.
Luckily shooting came naturally to her and thinking about other things wasn't going to put her off. That was one of the things she'd been trained to do.
The more she thought about it the easier it was to see how she'd been prepared for the Tunnels and she knew it was different to what her siblings had been through.
When the last of the creatures was dust Amira collected her arrows. "Check the area for anything else. Once it's secure we're going to be stopping for a little while.
I need more arrows."
Nodding, her siblings did what they were told, while she stood by the tree and watched them, unable to stop herself.
Losing them when they had only trusted each other... at least the feeling they'd had about Lady Kahina and Eugene was there for a reason.
They hadn't been making up the coldness they felt, because, obviously, neither had wanted to get too close to the siblings they were going to dump into the middle of the Tunnels.
Biting hard on her lip Amira tried not to let her emotions get to her, but it was hard not to. There had been a part of her wanting to believe in the two of them and she was wrong. All they wanted from them was... well, that was something they still had to find out.
"All clear."
Smiling, Amira told herself to focus on what needed to be done, rather than let her emotions get the better of her. "Good. What do we have for arrow making?"
Unsurprisingly Savanna walked over with a handful of choices, because that was the sort of person she was. "While you're making the arrows I'm going to work out what food supplies need.
I might be able to pull something together while we're here." She sighed. "I keep thinking about the food we were given and wondering if it's been poisoned."
"You're not the only one." Samuel reached out and squeezed her hand. "How about you leave your sword with me and I'll give it a good clean while you're busy?
I don't think it's something we're going to get a chance to do in the near future, so I'm going to make the most of the time we have."
