short.

With a ragged breath, he tried to run after her. Tried to capture her in his arms, this time he won't let go. No, not anymore. He made that mistake before, it only brought him sadness and immeasurable pain. Not when she was his anchor.

He runs and runs and runs. Until he can't see the figure driving before him. He gave up. Tired and sore from all the running. He could've done better. He should've treated her better. Maybe, just maybe, she will never leave.

But it's too late now, isn't it?

He should've given her the world because that's what she deserves. He should've given her the last pancake for breakfast or the first hunt for dinner. He should've made her his priority because he is to her. He should've cuddled her when she had nightmares, protecting her from the outside world because he can't protect her from her own demons.

He should've brought her to his morning runs, letting her pet his wolf because after all, she is his anchor. She grounds him. She made him feel at peace with his humanity and his wolf. She made him feel complete, unconsciously.

But he failed her. Every attempt of getting close was dismissed by a harsh word or a growl. He treated her like shit. And he knows he deserves to be left alone. But he still ran as if that would change her decision.

He inhaled her scent until it's gone. His wolf whined at the thought of not smelling her again. He cried, wailed like a child. He ran back to his home, frantically finding even one cloth that she left. He found her scarf, the one that she used to cover him after running. He silently ran his hand through the fabric, whispering a mixture of Sorrys and Goodbyes.

His wolf cried, constantly trying to get into the surface, to take over him and run after her much faster than he did before. He just sighed, letting one last tear fall from his eyes. Then he inhaled her again, putting his wolf at peace. He smiled sadly, knowing this will be the last time he'll smell her.

He tried to fold the scarf when he saw words that were sewed into the fabric.

I love you, sourwolf. I always will.

He lost all the composure he had minutes before. He cried again, this time loud that it would alarm the fellow weres around the area. But he didn't care. All he wants is his Little Red back. He needs his anchor here with him.

But he knew he ruined that. So he just cried and cried and cried. His wolf getting restless every passing minute that it didn't see the human.

He just cried. Because he knew he loved her, just now that he found out she loved him back. But she isn't coming back to him, not after treating her like shit. He just cried.

I know I'll find somebody. But you're just the one I want. He thought to himself.

You'll always be the one I want.

Was listening to All I Want by Kodaline. This is just a story of regret. I hope you won't experience this.
