On the third day, Fox had enough.
His Gamma came storming into his office, that which he hadn't left since their conversation yesterday. Fox only paused for a second to take in the sad state of the room before his gaze was pinned on him.
"Either you be their Alpha, or you will subject them to the slow death of a rogue because I am not their Alpha, and I refuse to pretend any longer," Fox stated without missing a beat, eyes filled with fire, "It's your choice."
"That is hardly a fair choice," He answered, and then after a small pause, asked, "Where is General and Amigo?"
"With our brothers," was Fox's clipped reply.
"I need to speak with them," He found a pocket of energy within his tired soul that allowed him to stand up, "Can you take me to them?"
Fox eyed him warily, unsure of what he was planning. "What is your choice?"
"I will tell you after I have spoken to them."
Little would he tell, but he was planning on giving the title to General, or Amigo. Whichever would accept it. They would be worthy leaders, he trusted them with the pack. He just wanted to be relieved of the title that had become a burden to him.
"Fine," Fox answered gruffly.
He followed his Gamma in silence through the house. They went outside and he paused for a moment on the porch because he hadn't been in the sunlight for three days now. It almost burned his skin, reminding him he didn't belong here anymore, and then he continued after Fox with the dull ache of his injuries lurking.
It was a sad reality that he was asking his Gamma where his pack was. He should have known but since that day the mind-link has been closed to him. He couldn't reach out to anyone, which had encouraged his decision of abandoning the Alpha title.
He should have expected most of the pack to be mourning in the meadow. They did not build tombstones for the ones they lost and he wasn't sure what that meant. They had been his brothers but now he felt like he understood nothing about them.
Still, as they approached, heads turned and silence suffocated him. Fox stopped a few feet behind him, not exactly standing at his side, but having his back. It was a strange feeling, knowing he was the outcast, and he wasn't sure how to fix it. Though, he knew what he had done wrong.
His eyes scanned the wolves before him, as they slowly lined up for whatever words he would share with them after three days of silence, and he didn't see General or Amigo. He knew they weren't dead but he didn't know their whereabouts. But, he had asked Fox to bring him to them, so he knew they must be nearby, hidden from him.
