"What's the Multiverse?" I asked, knowing it was nothing good.
"Our universe is not alone. It is a part of a much more complex system where various versions of our universe exist together. Time, Space, Reality, all of these are more than a linear path. It's a prism of endless possibilities. A single choice can branch out to create alternate realities and universes similar to us, but many different universes exist beside the one which we call our own."
"So, whatever Mr. Beck, or, or Mysterio said regarding another Earth, it's all true?" I asked, suddenly feeling dizzy.
"What do you mean? What did he say?" Strange asked.
I recounted to him everything that Mysterio had said to us back when I first met him, about belonging to an alternate planet.
"His idea was correct. I wonder how he knows about it. But that is not the main problem. The problem at hand is much direr. The Multiversal gates have opened, and we must try to close it as soon as possible. " he replied to my story.
"Yes, yes, but how though?" I asked quickly.
"We have to first see if anyone from other universes has barged in due to the power surge. After that, we have to lead them back to their own universes. The spell needed to close the gap is complex and time-consuming, we have to hurry up."
"Okay, I am ready. I have my suit with me." I said
"Let me see if I can detect any sudden power surges or break in the fabric of reality."
He started floating and doing whatever-magic-thing he does. He got down after a while and announced:
"There is a sudden power surge about a few blocks away, near Manhattan Bridge. Peter, suit-up. I will meet you there. There is something I got to do first."
With that, he opened up another portal and vanished.
"My day got a hell lot better!" I muttered to myself.
I clicked on the small Spider on my chest and felt the familiar feel of the nano-suit expanding on my body. As the mask closed up, I breathed in the familiar scent of the inside of my suit. I flexed my hands and ran out on the street. Swinging along the streets of New York was the most familiar thing I had done in a long time. I rushed towards Manhattan Bridge, which was not that far away. When I reached it, there was heavy traffic along the bridge. I swung to-and-fro, trying to find out anything that seemed wrong, but I could find nothing. I was swinging along the bridges, trying to keep away from the sight of the people when I heard a deep, booming laugh echo throughout the area. I could see that people all over the bridge had heard it too. I sat upon one of the poles on the bridge and scanned the area. As I looked, I saw a small ball-sized something roll on the floor of the bridge, in the middle of the traffic. I realized what it was a split-second before it exploded. I dived, but it was too late. The bomb exploded, pushing me back. Somehow managing to get a grip on one of the distant poles with my webs, I somehow managed to land on top of it, with only minimal damage to my suit.
I definitely had a bruised rib, but it was no time to think about that. The bomb had blasted at least two or three cars into the river. I dived into the river and dragged the two people who had fallen over with their cars, to the bridge. The other car was somehow empty. As I left them on the bridge, I heard sirens. Hopefully, the police and medical department could take care of the people. Seeing me in the suit may only make things worse. I let my suit contract, and moved along the crowd of the people that had formed, trying my best to keep my face covered. As soon as I was at a safe distance, I enabled the Iron-Spider and swung to the Sanctum.
I realized that I could not go back to May's, and whatever happened, the court would have to wait.
