Chad arrives in the launch room promptly at 0900 as requested for a trial run for the next day's actual launch. He again gets that eerie feeling when he sees those chairs with a porcupine looking helmet hanging from above each one, but he shakes it off. He asks if he is the only dimension pilot involved in these tests and is told there were ten other candidates before him. "Were?" Chad says. The techs said they have already said too much and that I should talk to the boss if I want details. Chad could sense this topic of conversation wasn't going any further with these guys and asks what happens next.
"First we program the four-dimensional time and space coordinates into that bank of quantum computers behind your particular chair and then we run a simulation using that program 1500 times checking for creeping errors. Then we shave your head and mark the entry points." Chad says "Hold up, hold up. You do what and what?" The techs repeat themselves and Chad raises his hand indicating he needs a moment. He thinks about what they just said and then thinks about the 3,000,000 credits. He waves his hand for them to continue. "We have three Drs here who will put you in the chair and take your vitals then strap you down to prevent movement once we attach the external electrode monitors. Then they will give you a Ketamine drip in your arm to induce a coma after which they will place electrode probes directly into your brain through a headpiece custom made only for you. Then we will initiate the program."
"This initial trial run will be thirty-seconds in our dimension but the time passage you experience will depend entirely on you, but we estimate anywhere from thirty-seconds to a couple hours tops." Chad sits back and asks to speak with Sun before the trial begins. The techs get on the phone and inform Chad that she is currently unavailable which Chad knows is untrue because of the importance of this trial. He looks around the room and looks directly into one of the many surveillance cameras and gives a dirty look then turns back to the techs; "Hook me up, let's do this". "They tell him he is being programed with the suggestion to travel back to his 9th grade chemistry class during the final exam and observe himself and then return to this home base. While in this coma you will still have the ability to stop the Ketamine drip yourself once you have completed your mission since we are tapped into your brain just picture the drip stopping, a signal will stop it and you should awaken shortly thereafter." All Chad heard was "Should". Chad says "I'm ready, put some music in my ear and press the button" and with that the techs initiate the program along with a predetermined playlist.
