Why?

Chapter 12

I was at school , the principal called me and told me I have join a club. No thank you I'm fine  , I just don't want another job after what I'm going through.

" You , have to learn how to socialize with people" he says . I decided that I would join the book club , trust me it's the only club that doesn't give me memories about that family. I was thinking of joining the chess club but it's not what I was willing to do everyday. It was after school and I got to my club. They were reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen  I think , the story seems interesting. So basically they read a few chapters and summarised it and gave you chapter to go and read at home . The president of the club was a boy named Jermaine he talked too much , had a good sense of humour some of the jokes he made where dry but he seemed cool. Victoria was done reading , so it was time to go home.

I got out and found aunt Risa with her car parking outside I ran back inside and went out the back door. I walked home alone since the others were talking to their friends at school and got to Beth's house .

" Hey , why aren't you here with Beth?"Mike  , Beth's brother asked.

" Oh, I had I a headache so I walked back all on my own."

" Sit down I'll get you some pills , you're not supposed to be walking if you have a headache."

He gave me aspirin and water , I threw the pills away and drank the water .I got to Beth's room did my homework and finally read my book , I didn't know it was that old .All I can say is she has Soo much creativity . I  stopped reading when there was a knock on the door.

" Good afternoon Mike have you seen Julia , I don't know where she is I've been looking for her,"

I went down the stairs before he could explain and gestured to him to tell her that I wasn't here.

" Oh , no sorry Miss Hampton she's not here but I could help you find her," he said.

" No it's okay I'm sure she's just around,"

He closed the door and gave me a serious face and said" what was that about."

" I'll explain , don't worry."

I left the room and went to Beth's room and waited for the others to come.

" Guys , we have to find a place to hide in for a while because aunt Risa is back and she is looking for me,"

" What about the tunnel , it not big but it can occupy all of us," Marcus suggested.

" No , I can't be living there , I'm not saying it's filthy but I'm a girl and some things are important , there's no bathroom so count me out," Beth said.

" Maybe we can live in my aunt's house it's not far from here but we can live there," said Jasmine.

" Ok maybe , we can go there,"I said.

" So we will meet up here at six and go,"

They all went and Beth and I were doing our own stuff. She was texting and I was reading. After a few minutes I stopped reading and laid on the bed facing the wall and having my thoughts. Sometimes I wish that I could actually back to Italy in my grandparents restaurant eating free fusilli  and linguine and the dessert sometimes , I ate shrimp with shrimp sauce or sometimes with soy sauce people found it weird but I actually loved it those days. If everything went back to normal it would he the first place I'd go to.

Beth's brother was cooking what a coincidence , he was cooking I don't know what but I could smell corn bread crumbs. I smelt ribs , ohh how I'm soo hungry.

It was finally six pm the others also joined us in dinner , so it meant there were no left overs. I ate as much as I could even though I was full  my stomach needed more.
I finished eating packed my belongings with Beth and we got downstairs.

Mike drove us to the house, on our way he kept on playing Bruno Mars songs , we were jaming in the car , the fun stopped when we got to our destination .

" Be safe ," he said.

We got to the house it was like a mansion but a little smaller, Jasmin knocked on the door then a teenage boy of our age with silky honey hair and a caramel pitched tone opened the door.

" Oh , Jack you're here  your mom told me you went to France for school ," Jasmine said.

" Uh , atleast can I get a greeting,"he replied.

" Oh , hi these are my friends ,"

Then a tall middle aged woman with blonde curls and blue eyes came and Jack went.

" Oh , Jasi you're here , you didn't tell me you were coming ," she said as she hugged Jasmine and squeezed her cheeks.

" These are my friends , we're looking for a place to stay for a while ," Jasmin said.

" Oh, don't worry feel free , and act like you're at home,"

Weird how some woman would allow strangers in her house . We all enters the house and I pulled Jasmin .

" How does she trust us?," I asked.

" This part of the town has tight security so , she was a former police officer so..."

The house had a really cool vibe , the walls were beige leather  and  the couches in the living room were  white and very wide with aesthetic paintings on the wall.

We sat in the couch feeling like strangers , while Jack was watching Squid game on Netflix . He's such a spoiler , I was planning on watching it .
The tall middle aged woman arranged a room for us , it was soo big like four times Beth's room . There were three bunk beds , a TV and two bathrooms.

She let us in and I quickly took a shower , washed my hair with the fancy shampoo but I hope there's no breakage , dried my hair put oils put my pyjamas and went to sleep.
