Chapter 20

Julia POV

As we were walking in the forest , I was stinking like a skunk very bad . My pits I couldn't raise them because I was embarrassed of the sweat stain and the smell.

Footsteps thump, thumping

I'm guessing it was one of her guards following us.

Gunshots

Mason POV

I was surrounded by the guards after taking the bullets for Julia my hand is bleeding I'm feeling pain and I'm loosing soo much blood . I stand up and look for the others but they've run away including Julia's parents.The guards seize me and take me inside the house, in the laundry room and I was put on the floor to sit.

" Mason , I thought you were working with us," said my dad Norman.

" As you can see I'm not ," I replied.

"Why , I mean you were ok here is there something wrong, darling"aunt Risa said.

" You're wrong , okay and stop pretending to be my mom because we all know you're not you can never take her place!"

" Hey ,Mason that's not way to talk to your mom!" my dad shouted.

" Well , she's not,"I replied.
He turned to aunt Risa and whispered something to her, I think he was asking for privacy to talk to me and then she went out the room.

" What's wrong with you , you're mom's gone okay just accept it,"

" Look , I know you didn't get to meet your mom , but you have to accept Risa as your new mom,"

"Noo! She'll never be my mom,"
" Mason stop this nonsense okay!"

"You're just clueless dad you're easily manipulated by people , how could you trust everything you see,"

" What do you mean?"

" Have you ever wondered how mom died and the reason behind it , I mean you told me you just heard that she died and went to her funeral . You believed aunt Risa's story that she was in war with a guy named Roberto who killed her because she owed him money. The guy who went to jail for her death how sure are you his the guy,"

" Let me explain what really happened was..."

Julia POV

The guards were near , we tried our best not to make noise. We ran as fast as we could obviously making my stench worse I still continued.We stopped just to rest and I was panting heavily.

Mason POV

" And how am I supposed to believe that's true,"
" Julia's parents told me and I have proof okay let me show you something,"

" Go , to the store room right on my bag or suitcase whatever you call it, there's another small bag inside bring it here and I'll show you,"
He went out the room and brought the bag, he opened it and found an old camera , a diary and my mom's necklace.

He opened the diary and found only one page written in codes, that he only seed to understand.
" Your mom..."

" What about her dad?"

" She wrote in your language our secret language that we created for years, only we knew the language and no one else, we only spoke it when we talking about personal stuff and maybe gossiping,"

He read it as follows ;

Norman there's no other way I could speak to you, Risalia  that woman you shouldn't trust her, as I'm about to lose my life right now it's because of the evil monster Risa she's planning to kill me so she could be with you . Norman , as I'll be gone please take care of Mason he's my only child and I love you both . Please take care , I....

He was in disbelief and started crying and knelt on the ground.
" Why didn't you tell me this whole time ?"
" I was still looking for proof?"
" What's on the camera ?"
"Dad , it's a clip of Risa paying someone going to jail for her,"

Aunt Risa came in and looked around.

" Hey, honey what's wrong?"she asked.

" You killed Veronica didn't you?"

"I don't know what you're talking about,"

"Stop pretending okay , traitor . I trusted all these years gave you two kids we did everything together adopted Maria and married worst of all,why ?"

She got closer to him and tried comforting him.
" Don't touch me,"
He exited the room as if he was going to get something.
