What was going on? Lisa was crying out in pain, clutching her stomach. My thoughts immediately went to the baby. She fell on her stomach. No, nothing bad could have happened to the baby. Wake up Jesse, I thought. The girl just landed flat on her stomach, of course something happened to the baby!

"Guys, we have got to get her to the hospital!" I shouted. Miranda looked at Trisha, then back at Lisa.

"What about her?" she asked, nodding back toward Trisha.

"Forget her. Just get Lisa out of here," I said.

"She's got a pulse, she'll be fine," Tyler said, taking his fingers off Trisha's neck. Ooh, if anything happened to this baby she was going to regret ever having met me. Stop that Jesse, nothing is wrong with the baby. Think positive. Think positive. I picked Lisa up in my arms and carried her to the car. She was a little more calm now, but she was still clutching her stomach.

"Miranda! Tyler! Leave her, she'll be fine! We have to get out of here!" I said.

"What if she tells someone?" Miranda asked.

"She won't tell anyone anything. Not unless she wants to live," Tyler grumbled on his way over to the car. I ignored the comment and decided to worry about it later. Miranda reluctantly got in the car next to Tyler and as soon as she shut the door, Tyler pulled the car out onto the road as fast as he could. He slammed down on the gas pedal and took off, leaving Trisha behind. I held Lisa on my lap, her head resting on my chest.

"You'll be fine," I whispered in her hair. She nodded and took my hand with the hand she wasn't using to clutch her stomach.

"It'll be fine," she whispered.

It seemed like years before we finally got to the damn hospital. Tyler, Miranda, and I got out of the car, me carrying Lisa bridal style. We rushed into the emergency room and grabbed the first doctor we saw.

"Doctor!" Miranda shouted. "Help us! Please!"

"What's going on kids?" she asked us.

"My friend, she fell and she's pregnant," Miranda cried. The doctor nodded and shouted for assistance. Some guys brought over a gurney and I set Lisa down on it. They rushed her out of there and told us to wait and that they would call us when they were done with her.

"Do you think the baby's going to be okay?" Tyler asked nervously.

"I hope so," I whispered. "I really hope so." Never in my life have I cried. Besides the times I cried when I was a baby or a little kid, of course. I didn't cry when Mom left, I didn't cry when Dad started drinking or when he first came home drunk, I didn't cry when any of my past girlfriends broke up with me, I didn't cry when that night came either. But right now? I was about to cry. I don't know what I would do if that doctor came back out here and told me that the baby was dead. I just don't know what I would do.

"Jesse, try and chill, dude," Tyler said to me. "I'm sure every thing's fine."

"You say that, but do you mean it?" I said with no emotion. He looked down.

"I don't know," he said. That's what I thought.

*Miranda*

I've never seen Jesse like this. He was pacing around the waiting room, running his hands through his hair with a very worried and scared expression plastered on his face. He didn't even look like this on that night. I really hoped that Lisa and the baby were okay. He was so worried about them.
